About the role:
The Primary Direct Support Worker is responsible to coordinate and ensure the provision of support which will increase the quality of life and independence of individuals supported. A caseload will be assigned by the Aldaview Leadership Team. While the Primary Direct Support will take a lead role with an assigned caseload they will also provide leadership and direction to other staff when the assigned Primary Direct Support is not available or on shift.

WAGE:

$25.64 to $29.74 hourly
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in the social services field, such as a DSW/PSW or enrolled in a related college or university program is preferred.
    OR
    Related experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • CPR, Emergency First Aid, NVCI
  • Aldaview employees will be responsible for driving residents' appointments, activities etc. therefore a G license required
  • Experience supporting individuals with Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health & Addictions would be an asset

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to advocate for others
  • Ability to coordinate support and work on support plans, document behaviours and medical concerns accordingly, understand health and safety, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and takes initiative in making improvements.
  • Ability to contribute to a safe environment for co-workers and clients.
  • Can communicates respectfully, openly and honestly.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adults with an intellectual/developmental disability is preferable.
