Role Overview

As an Optometric Assistant, you will play a key role in both clinical support and customer-facing dispensary operations. • Take precise measurements (including segment height and pupillary distance / PD).
  • Perform frame adjustments, fittings, alignment, and minor frame repairs.
  • Verify prescription accuracy of incoming lab orders before patient delivery.
  • Educate patients on lens options (progressives, anti-reflective coatings, blue-light, photochromic) and contact lens insertion/removal care.

Optometric & Patient Care Support:

  • Welcome patients and perform preliminary testing (Autorefractor, NCT/tonometer, visual fields, fundus imaging).
  • Collect and update patient medical history and vision records in our EHR system.
  • Verify vision insurance benefits and explain out-of-pocket costs clearly to patients.
  • Keep exam rooms and display cases clean, organized, and sanitized.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience Required: Minimum 1+ years of experience as an Optometric Assistant or Optical Dispenser/Optician in an eye care setting.
  • Technical Skills: Strong working knowledge of optical lenses, frame fitting, PD measurements, and optical adjustments.
  • Customer Service: Friendly, professional demeanor with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • EHR & Computer Savvy: Comfortable navigating EHR/practice management software and submitting insurance claims/orders online.
  • Certification (Plus, but not required): CPO, CPOA, or ABO certification is a bonus!

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive Pay: Starting at $23.00 per hour, with room for growth based on experience.
  • Work-Life Balance: Monday to Thursday 9am to 6pm and Fridays 9am to 5pm with 1-2 Saturdays per month. Saturday hours are 9am to 2pm
