THE OPPORTUNITY

For more than four decades, this established Canadian company has built a successful and highly specialized position within its industry through precision craftsmanship, quality work and longstanding customer relationships.

Its more than 20,000 square foot Durham Region facility includes six 5 axis and eight 3 axis machining centres, with large capacity and high speed machining capabilities.

This is a custom, high mix, low volume environment. The work is not repetitive production machining. Every project brings different specifications, setups and machining requirements, giving experienced machinists the opportunity to apply their knowledge, judgement and craftsmanship.

The company is busy, successful and well positioned for continued stability and growth. For an experienced machinist looking for security in an uncertain economic environment, this is an opportunity to build a lasting career with an established business.

THE ROLE

The Experienced CNC Machinist will independently set up and operate 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centres to produce custom aluminum moulds and tooling.

You will be responsible for your machine, setup, assigned work and finished quality. You will work with CAM programmers and other experienced tradespeople to resolve issues, maintain accuracy and complete work safely and efficiently.

Experience producing this company's specific products is not required. Its specialized processes can be taught. What matters is a strong foundation in custom CNC machining and the ability to apply that experience within a precision environment.

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU

  • Competitive Compensation: Earn $35 to $40 per hour, based on your experience and technical capability.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Extended health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off, uniforms and on site parking.
  • Day Shift: Build your career on a consistent day schedule.
  • Long Term Stability: Join a successful Canadian company with more than four decades of history and longstanding customer relationships.
  • Interesting Custom Work: Apply your skills to different moulds, tooling and machining challenges rather than repeating the same production operation every day.
  • Advanced Equipment: Work with large capacity 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centres.
  • Experienced Team: Work alongside skilled machinists, CAM programmers, mould makers and finishers who understand the value of precision and quality.
  • Craftsmanship: Join an environment where knowledge, judgement and pride in your work genuinely matter.
  • A Career Destination: Find a stable place where you can contribute, continue developing and build the next stage of your career.

  • Experience in custom, high mix, low volume machining.
  • Strong knowledge of cutting tools, fixtures, workholding, offsets, feeds and speeds.
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret specifications and work to precise tolerances.
  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining and setup issues independently.

  • General Machinist 429A certification, Red Seal endorsement or equivalent machining education is an asset but not required.

Experience with aluminum machining, mould making, automotive tooling, tool and die, aerospace, prototype work or other custom precision machining would be valuable.

If you are an experienced CNC Machinist who takes pride in your craft and wants stable, interesting work with an established company, we would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
