Equipment & Fleet Manager

As Equipment & Fleet Manager, you will lead the maintenance strategy, fleet reliability, and equipment performance of our growing operation. Working closely with Operations, Equipment Planning, Procurement, and Safety, you will ensure our fleet remains safe, reliable, cost-effective, and ready to support operational success. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who is passionate about maximizing uptime, driving continuous improvement, and developing high-performing teams.

Compensation & Schedule

$90,000 - $110,000 per year/hour

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the requirements of the role.

Responsibilities

• Fleet Maintenance Leadership
  Lead maintenance activities across multiple business units and operating locations.
  Provide leadership, coaching, and support to maintenance teams.
  Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Preventative Maintenance & Repair Management
  Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  Maximize fleet availability and minimize unplanned downtime.
• Fleet Reliability & Asset Performance
  Improve equipment reliability, uptime, and asset lifecycle performance.
  Analyze maintenance data and equipment trends to support decision-making.
  Drive initiatives that improve overall fleet performance.
• Maintenance Planning & Operational Coordination
  Ensure equipment availability supports business requirements.
  Maintain visibility of fleet status and maintenance schedules.
  Maintenance Systems & Continuous Improvement
• Maintenance Systems & Continuous Improvement
  Develop and enhance maintenance systems, processes, and reporting tools.
  Monitor maintenance KPIs and performance metrics.
• Vendor & Contractor Management
  Manage relationships with dealerships, suppliers, repair facilities, and contractors.
• Compliance, Financial Stewardship & Safety Leadership
  Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and safety standards.
  Manage maintenance budgets and support cost-control initiatives.
  Champion a proactive safety culture that protects employees, equipment, and communities.
• Safety & Compliance
  Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements.
  Maintain awareness of surrounding personnel, equipment, and site hazards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7-10 years of progressive maintenance experience in transportation,
• Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams,
• Strong understanding of fleet maintenance programs, equipment reliability, preventative maintenance, and asset lifecycle management.
• Experience managing heavy-duty truck fleets, mobile equipment, trailers, and related assets
• Strong knowledge of maintenance planning,
  
• Experience analyzing maintenance data, KPIs, and cost trends to support decision-making
• Solid understanding of applicable transportation, commercial vehicles, occupational health and safety, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and ability to travel between operating locations as required.
• We are open to discussing the candidate's location; however, regular travel to the West Kootenays region is a requirement

Preferred

• Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic, Commercial Transport Mechanic, or related trade certification.

• Diploma or degree in Maintenance Management, Business, or a related field.

• Knowledge of forestry, log hauling, bulk transportation, or resource-sector operations.

• Experience leading maintenance functions across multiple sites or business units.

• Project management and capital planning experience.
