Job Details:
The successful candidate will have extensive experience operating tractor-trailer combinations, including lowboy, step-deck, flatbed, and Roll-Tite trailers, and must be comfortable with long-distance travel, load securement, route planning, and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate Class 1 tractor-trailer combinations, including lowboy, step-deck, flatbed, and Roll-Tite trailers.
- Transport heavy, oversized, and specialized loads in compliance with provincial, federal, and company regulations.
- Perform thorough pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.
- Ensure proper load securement and compliance with permit requirements.
- Coordinate pickups and deliveries while maintaining professional communication with customers, dispatch, and team members.
- Complete all required transportation documentation accurately and on time.
- Plan routes and travel schedules to ensure safe and efficient deliveries.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment.
- Comply with all safety policies, hours-of-service regulations, and company procedures.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 1 Driver's License with Manual Transmission and Air Brake Endorsement.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Previous experience hauling heavy equipment, oversized loads, or specialized freight is required.
- Experience operating lowboy, step-deck, flatbed, or Roll-Tite trailers.
- Clean and current driver's abstract.
- Ability to travel throughout Atlantic Canada, Ontario, and other regions as required.
- Valid Canadian Passport or ability to obtain one for occasional cross-border travel.
- Strong knowledge of load securement regulations and transportation safety requirements.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and safely in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of electronic logs and transportation software is considered an asset.
