Legal Assistant / Paralegal

Full job description

We are looking to add a legal assistant or paralegal with experience in construction or commercial litigation to our team. Our firm prides itself on doing interesting and rewarding work to high standards. We enjoy our jobs, and have fun doing them. If you join us, your responsibilities are likely to include:

• Monitoring and advancing the progress of litigation matters

• Organizing and prioritizing material and workflow for review by lawyers

• Scheduling lawyers' appointments for discovery, applications, and trial

• Assisting in the preparation of correspondence, pleadings, briefs, court forms and other documents

• Proofreading and editing documents

• Arranging for filing and service of court documents

• Communicating with clients, witnesses and other stakeholders

• File management and document administration - electronic and paper

• Experience with advanced AI-based software is an asset

• Maintenance of a bring forward system

• Calendar management, travel arrangements and other administrative tasks

You will be a good fit for our firm if you are diligent, thoughtful and caring, and have a positive and upbeat personality. Other attributes that we value include a legal assistant or paralegal diploma or certificate, experience in estates, construction or commercial litigation. We value first class organization and communication skills and strict attention to detail.
