ventureLAB is seeking an IT Coordinator Project Intern to lead a time-bound digital infrastructure initiative within our high-growth hardware and software innovation hub. Working under the guidance of the IT lead , the intern will focus on a defined 16-week roadmap to optimize internal IT workflows, streamline device management, and enhance technical support for both internal staff and hardware incubator members. This is an ideal opportunity for a tech-savvy student or early-career professional looking to gain hands-on experience in enterprise IT operations, systems administration, and technical support within Canada's premier innovation ecosystem.

Project Scope & Key Deliverables

The intern will be responsible for the following milestones during their term:

  • Systems & Device Audit: Conduct a comprehensive audit of internal hardware, software licenses, and cloud assets (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and specialized tools) to create an updated IT asset inventory.
  • Helpdesk & Workflow Automation: Streamline day-to-day IT support ticketing processes, identifying repetitive technical issues and building automated self-service guides for staff and founder members.
  • Onboarding & Offboarding Infrastructure: Refine and document technical onboarding/offboarding workflows, ensuring seamless provision of hardware, access credentials, and security permissions.
  • Network & Space Support: Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of network connectivity, audio/visual setup, and workstation technical readiness within the Innovation Space Centre (ISC).
  • Cybersecurity & Best Practices: Research and draft internal IT security documentation and best-practice guides to ensure compliance and data protection across all digital touchpoints.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Technical Foundation: Practical knowledge of hardware troubleshooting, network fundamentals (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN), enterprise cloud administration (Google Workspace and Microsoft 365), knowledge of Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux.
  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving abilities with a structured approach to diagnosing technical issues and documenting solutions.
  • Organizational Agility: Excellent time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple technical priorities and meet project milestones under minimal supervision.
  • Service Mentality: Clear, empathetic written and verbal communication skills to support non-technical users and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Ecosystem Interest: A strong interest in hardware technology, IT operations, and the Canadian startup ecosystem.

Project Terms & Support

  • Project Duration: 16 weeks.
  • Hours: 35 hours per week.
  • Compensation & Support: To mitigate personal financial impact for those commuting to or working alongside the ventureLAB team in Markham, all participants qualify for a Monthly Travel and Meal Allowance of up to $1,000.00, issued through semi-monthly reimbursements of up to $500.00.
  • Work Model: Onsite (Markham, Ontario), 5 days a week.
