Job Summary

J Dass is looking for an experienced and motivated Hotel General Manager to oversee the operations, performance, and profitability of our hotel properties.

The General Manager will provide leadership across multiple hotel locations and work closely with property managers, department heads, and hotel teams to ensure consistent standards in guest service, operations, employee performance, safety, and financial results.

The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality leader who understands hotel operations, has strong business and financial skills, and can motivate teams to deliver an exceptional guest experience.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations and overall performance of J Dass hotel properties.

  • Provide leadership and direction to hotel managers, department heads, and operational teams.

  • Ensure consistent guest service, cleanliness, safety, and operational standards across all properties.

  • Monitor hotel performance and develop strategies to improve occupancy, revenue, guest satisfaction, and profitability.

  • Prepare, manage, and monitor hotel budgets, forecasts, revenues, expenses, payroll, and operating costs.

  • Review financial reports and key performance indicators and take corrective action when required.

  • Develop and implement operating policies, procedures, and service standards.

  • Recruit, train, coach, and develop hotel management and staff.

  • Set performance expectations and hold management teams accountable for results.

  • Address guest complaints and operational issues promptly and professionally.

  • Review guest feedback and online reviews and implement improvements to the guest experience.

  • Conduct regular visits and inspections of hotel properties to ensure standards are being maintained.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, employment, licensing, and hospitality regulations.

  • Work with sales and marketing teams to increase occupancy, revenue, and market share.

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity and identify opportunities for business growth.

  • Maintain strong relationships with guests, employees, vendors, suppliers, contractors, and business partners.

  • Conduct regular meetings with hotel managers and department heads to review operations, financial performance, staffing, and business priorities.

  • Prepare regular operational and financial reports for senior management and ownership.

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, increase revenue, and enhance guest satisfaction.

  • Support new initiatives, property improvements, and business-development opportunities across the hotel portfolio.

  • Travel between J Dass hotel properties as required.


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Hotel General Manager, Multi-Property General Manager, Regional General Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations, or similar senior hospitality role.

  • Experience managing multiple hotel properties or large-scale hotel operations is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of hotel operations, including front office, housekeeping, maintenance, guest services, sales, marketing, and administration.

  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, payroll, purchasing, and cost control.

  • Experience using hotel Property Management Systems (PMS) and Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.

  • Strong understanding of hotel financial and operational performance metrics.

  • Proven ability to improve revenue, profitability, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong customer-service and guest-relations skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple properties, departments, and priorities.

  • Knowledge of applicable Ontario employment, health and safety, licensing, and hospitality regulations.

  • Ability and willingness to travel between hotel properties.

  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant hospitality experience may be considered.
