Group Benefits SpecialistAbout the Role We are looking for a Group Benefits Specialist to support the administration and implementation of group benefit plans for clients across Canada. This is a hands-on role involving benefits administration, plan setup, data analysis, testing, reporting, and problem-solving. The ideal candidate has strong group benefits knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and enjoys working with systems and solving issues. Key Responsibilities
  • Administer group benefit plans for assigned clients.
  • Process employee enrolments, terminations, salary changes, life events, and eligibility updates.
  • Interpret benefit plans, carrier contracts, and administrative guidelines.
  • Respond to client, advisor, and carrier questions.
  • Support the implementation and setup of new benefit plans.
  • Configure plan designs, eligibility rules, coverage, and rates in benefits systems.
  • Validate employee and client data during implementations and system changes.
  • Perform testing for system updates, payroll integrations, and carrier interfaces.
  • Investigate and resolve benefit, system, and data issues.
  • Analyze data and identify discrepancies or errors.
  • Work with carriers, technology teams, and internal teams to resolve issues.
  • Prepare reports, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
  • Support premium billing validation and data accuracy.
  • Help maintain procedures, workflows, and process documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and client service.
  • Participate in testing, training, and team improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in group benefits administration, preferably with a TPA serving small groups or an insurance company.
  • Strong knowledge of group benefit plans and plan administration.
  • Experience interpreting plan documents and carrier information.
  • Experience using benefits administration systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Comfortable learning new systems and working in a fast-paced environment.
