Client Partner — Financial Services (Banking focus)

Location: Toronto, ON (Flexible Hybrid)

Role Type: Full-Time / Director Level

About the Firm Our client is a premier global business and technology consulting firm with an established practice in Toronto. Known for combining strategic insight with custom technology execution, the firm partners closely with leading Canadian financial institutions to drive enterprise-wide digital transformations, modernize operations, and launch new capabilities. They offer the scale and reach of a major global consultancy paired with the autonomy and close-knit feel of a local market practice.

The Role Our client is seeking an experienced Client Partner (Director Level) to join their Toronto leadership team. In this role, the candidate will serve as the strategic account leader for key Tier-1 Canadian banking client relationships, blending business development and account expansion with hands-on delivery oversight and team mentorship.

This leader will own the overall health of their assigned portfolio—driving account strategy and expansion ($10M–$15M target portfolio scope) while ensuring consulting teams execute complex, custom business and technology solutions with strong delivery health and margin discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Account Leadership: Build and nurture trusted relationships with VP, SVP, and C-level executives within major Canadian banking institutions.

  • Account Expansion & Business Development: Identify, shape, and close complex consulting engagements ($500K to $2M+ deal size) across technology transformation, data strategy, cloud, and modern software engineering.

  • Delivery Oversight & Margin Management: Maintain full accountability for account P&L, pipeline health, delivery profitability, billing rates, and high customer satisfaction scores.

  • Team Leadership & Coaching: Lead, mentor, and inspire cross-functional consultant teams and account leads, fostering continuous team growth and performance.

  • Active Engagement: Maintain a personal billable utilization target (~40%) to stay actively engaged with client accounts and delivery teams.

Qualifications

  • Consulting Tenure: 10–12+ years in management or technology consulting, with a clear track record of holding utilization targets and actively delivering client engagements (not pure product, SaaS, or software sales).

  • Financial Services Expertise: Deep domain knowledge and established senior relationships within Canadian Financial Services, specifically major Canadian banks.

  • P&L & Portfolio Ownership: Proven experience managing an account portfolio of $5M–$10M+ in annual consulting revenue, overseeing project margins and commercial terms (SOWs/MSAs).

  • Delivery-Grounded Growth: Proven success expanding enterprise accounts through high-impact, custom consulting delivery.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; Advanced degree/MBA is a plus.

Why Join This Firm?

  • Autonomy & Impact: True ownership over account strategy and execution without heavy corporate bureaucracy.

  • Local Market Model: Work directly with clients in the local market with minimal travel requirements.

  • Competitive Package: Collaborative environment offering strong professional development, flexible hybrid work arrangements, and a competitive compensation structure (base + performance bonus target).
