Software Developer (C++/C#) (Hybrid) Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Behind every utility control room is software that must perform when it matters most. Survalent is looking for an experienced Software Developer to help build the core SCADA technology used to monitor electrical infrastructure, manage alarms, and respond to real-time events. Why You'll Enjoy this Role * Work on the core technology utilities use to monitor the grid, respond to alarms, and make operational decisions. * Solve challenging engineering problems involving multi-threaded, real-time, high-availability systems. * Contribute across the platform—from performance-sensitive server components to the desktop applications used in control rooms. * Use modern development tools while helping evolve an established platform into APIs and web technologies. * Join a collaborative, supportive engineering team advancing a trusted platform with customer retention above 97% since tracking began in 1983. What you will be doing * Design and build across our SCADA platform including data acquisition, alarms, auditing, database components. * Build and maintain SmartVU and other desktop UI applications used daily by utility operators and engineers. * Help grow our platform's footprint into API and web development. * Profile, debug, and optimize performance-sensitive, real-time code. * Work directly with customer-facing teams to troubleshoot and solve issues that matter to utilities customers. * Help build out test automation and modern engineering practices as the team scales them up. * Use modern development tools and your own engineering judgment to deliver reliable, maintainable, and high-quality software. * Comply with Survalent's ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management System (ISMS) Policy. * Comply with Survalent's ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Policy. * Perform additional duties as required to support product, team, and organizational success. What you'll Bring * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. * 5+ years of experience developing large, complex software systems, preferably in a Windows environment. * Strong experience with C++, STL, and modern C++ standards. * Experience with .NET and C#; knowledge of WPF and MVVM is an asset. * Experience developing multi-threaded, real-time, or performance-critical applications. * Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming and software design patterns. * Experience with relational databases, SQL, and data modelling. * Ability to understand, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve existing codebases. * Experience with electrical grids, substations, SCADA, or industrial control systems is an asset. * Experience with Git or Bitbucket, JIRA, and Confluence is an asset * Experience with TCP/IP sockets, IPC, or Windows API is an asset. * Strong interest in REST APIs, or web development is an asset. * Familiarity with DNP3, IEC 61850, or Modbus communication protocols is an asset. This full-time role reports to the Team Lead of SCADA. The salary range for this role is $12,000- $140,000.
