The Programmer Scheduler is responsible for programming and scheduling CNC equipment within the metal processing area to support efficient and timely production. This role focuses on maximizing throughput, optimizing material utilization, and balancing workloads across work centers to achieve the shortest lead times. The Programmer Scheduler monitors machine performance, generates utilization reports, and supports continuous improvement through Lean initiatives.

What You Will Be Responsible For
  • Programming and scheduling of the various pieces of CNC equipment within the metal processing area including plasma torch, laser, press brakes, and rolls.
  • Focus on manufacturing products in the most efficient manner while increasing factory throughput.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
  • Ensure material utilization is better than the prescribed requirement; if not, raise the issue to management accordingly.
  • Generate reports indicating machine performance and material utilization.
  • Follow standard operating procedures as defined by manager and suggest ways to improve.
  • Level loading work centers to maintain the shortest lead time and effective use of raw materials.
  • Monitor loading on each piece of equipment and shift work between work centers to maintain a level load, shortest lead time and effective use of raw materials.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We Look For
  • Very good organization and team collaboration skills.
  • Must be a self-starter who is results-oriented, with a strong work ethic.
  • Aptitude for learning software programs.
  • Technical training such as a mechanical technical diploma or engineering degree would be an asset.
  • Experience in programming and operating CNC equipment, including lasers, press brakes, and plasmas preferred.
  • Experience with nesting software such as Sigmanest and Trumpf considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in CAD software with preference to experience in Solidworks.
  • Must have basic knowledge of MRP systems and inventory management.
  • Must have ability to read drawings.
  • Must be available to work shiftwork.
