Material Handler

SUMMARY The Material Handler (plate) moves materials manually or by using mechanical material handling equipment - overhead crane and/or forklift. QUALIFICATIONS 1. Attention to detail. 2. Ability to count large quantities. 3. Ability to problem-solve. 4. Ability to organize/prioritize. 5. Overhead crane operator (Level 2). 6. Forklift operator (Level 2). 7. Perform basic math. 8. Knowledge of measurement systems. 9. Speak, read, write, and understand English at a conversational level. 10. Computer literate. RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Comply with the Rights Responsibilities for All Employees listed in the Employee Handbook. 2. Identify and locate materials by customer, thickness, size, grade, and other characteristics. 3. Plan and carry out material movement based on established schedules and/or instructions from Supervisor. 4. Maintain regular communication with others regarding material movement requirements. 5. Load/unload trucks and trailers as needed. 6. Maintain inventory and material location databases. 7. Perform required equipment, safety, and quality inspections. 8. Generate NCR (non-conformance report) for plates that are not to standard. 9. Complete necessary paperwork when required. 10. Demonstrate safe work habits at all times. 11. Perform basic equipment maintenance and report maintenance issues as needed. 12. Maintain an organized work area.
