Our teams combine deep technical expertise with a highly collaborative approach to solve complex design challenges and deliver better outcomes for our clients.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Plumbing & Drainage Designer to join our team in either Toronto, Ontario or Vancouver, British Columbia.

In this role, you will work alongside engineers, designers, and project teams to develop plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for a variety of building projects. You'll have the opportunity to contribute throughout the design process, from calculations and system layouts through the preparation and coordination of construction documents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a designer who enjoys technical problem-solving, multidisciplinary collaboration, and seeing their designs come to life in the built environment.

What You'll Do

You will support the design and delivery of plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for new construction, renovations, and complex building projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing plumbing, drainage, and fire protection systems for a variety of building types
  • Developing systems including sanitary, storm, domestic water, sprinkler, standpipe, and specialty piping systems
  • Supporting specialty systems such as site services, pools, commercial kitchens, laundries, pumping systems, medical gas, compressed air, and other project-specific systems
  • Preparing coordinated mechanical drawings and construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Performing plumbing design calculations and pipe sizing
  • Developing and coordinating plumbing and piping layouts with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines
  • Reviewing project requirements, applicable codes, and design standards
  • Collaborating with engineers, project managers, designers, and other members of the project team
  • Supporting projects from design development through construction documentation
What You Bring

We're looking for someone who has a strong foundation in plumbing and drainage design and is interested in continuing to grow within the building design and consulting engineering industry.

You'll be a strong fit if you have:

  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience designing plumbing and drainage systems
  • Experience with or exposure to fire protection system design
  • Relevant post-secondary education in engineering technology, building systems, mechanical design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Experience preparing drawings, coordinating piping layouts, and performing design calculations
  • Working knowledge of applicable Canadian, provincial, and local building and plumbing codes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and other standard business applications

Registration as a C.Tech., C.E.T., or equivalent designation with the applicable provincial professional association is considered an asset.
