We're in search of an experienced Corporate Law Clerk to join our team in Brampton, CA. Reporting to and working alongside our in-house counsel, the Corporate Law Clerk will have an immediate and lasting impact on our operations — driving positive outcomes through meticulous document production, litigation and enforcement support, legal research, and database maintenance across our corporate group and affiliated entities.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Draft, format, and finalize pleadings, affidavits, factums, and responding materials under the direction of counsel, with high attention to detail.
    • Assemble complete, motion records, application records, and document briefs according to the filing standards.
    • Coordinate with the legal team to attend to hearings, motions, and settlement conferences, scheduling and confirming court dates, preparing hearing materials and briefs for counsel, filing on-consent and procedural documents, and following up on endorsements and orders.
    • Track and diarize litigation deadlines, limitation periods, service dates, and court events; ensure materials are prepared and filed on time.
    • Prepare enforcement and security documentation, default judgment packages, writs, garnishments, and manage PPSA registrations, renewals, discharges, and enforcement, corporate reports.
    • Draft, review, and help finalize agreements, contracts, security documents, demand letters, and commercial and settlement correspondence, corporate polices, assisting in preparation of any HR policies, addendums, factums as an when needed.
    • Support regulatory and cross-border matters, and related agency correspondence.
    • Prepare responses and filing packages for administrative and labour tribunals, including schedules, comparative schedules, and supporting materials.
    • Provide legal support across internal departments including Human Resources, Claims, and Safety assisting with employment and labour matters, insurance and liability claims, safety and regulatory compliance, and general litigation support as needed.
    • Conduct legal research and monitor developments in relevant Ontario legislation, court practices, and industry regulation, summarizing findings for counsel.
    • Provide day-to-day legal operations and administrative support opening and organizing files, maintaining corporate records, legal databases, and electronic file systems with strict accuracy and version control, managing document workflows, and handling matter intake and correspondence.
    • Work closely with internal departments and liaise with courts, opposing counsel, process servers, agents, and external counsel to keep matters moving efficiently.
    • Support internal council, other team members and corporate governance, risk management, and dispute-resolution processes.

Requirements

  • Law Clerk diploma or paralegal credential from a recognized program; ILCO; LSO License membership an asset.
  • 3 to 5+ years of law clerk experience in litigation and/or corporate-commercial practice, ideally in a firm or in-house legal department; candidates seeking a transition to a structured, corporate environment are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong command of Ontario civil procedure in both Superior Court and Small Claims Court, including CSO/Case Center e-filing and Practice Direction compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel, JSO Portal, Westlaw and Legal skills
  • Strong legal research and drafting skills with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, team work.
  • Familiarity with employment/labour tribunals and cross-border or regulatory matters is an asset.
  • Industry knowledge in logistics, transportation, commercial finance/leasing, and real estate is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume, multi-file caseload while collaborating with internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, sound judgment, and discretion.
