Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Mississauga, ON

Position: Maintenance Mechanic

Employment Type: Full-Time

Pay: $28.00–$30.00/hour

Shift: Training on days, then moving to afternoons

Overtime: Regular overtime exceeding 50 hours per week is required

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support the safe and efficient operation of high-speed manufacturing equipment.

This is a hands-on maintenance role focused on preventative maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, equipment repairs, and minimizing production downtime. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and must be available for regular overtime exceeding 50 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of machinery, equipment, and production systems
  • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication, adjustments, and component replacement
  • Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and equipment failures
  • Repair and replace belts, gears, motors, pumps, and hydraulic components
  • Diagnose issues involving hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, and basic electrical systems
  • Perform root-cause troubleshooting to reduce recurring equipment failures
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service documentation
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with production teams
  • Perform repairs efficiently to minimize equipment downtime
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment safely
  • Follow all company safety procedures and maintenance standards

Required Experience

  • Industrial Mechanic Millwright licence an asset or equivalent combination of technical training and hands-on experience
  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, Millwright, or similar industrial maintenance professional
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and repairing high-speed manufacturing equipment
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Conveyor system maintenance and repair experience
  • Experience with pumps, motors, gears, belts, and related mechanical components
  • Basic electrical troubleshooting knowledge
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematics
  • Strong preventative maintenance experience
  • Ability to work independently and troubleshoot equipment under production pressures
  • Must be available to work afternoon shift following training
  • Must be comfortable working regular overtime exceeding 50 hours per week

Strong Assets

  • Experience within food and beverage manufacturing
  • high-speed processing equipment experience
  • PLC troubleshooting exposure
  • Licensed 433A Industrial Mechanic Millwright not required but an asset
  • Technical or mechanical certification
  • Experience with automated production equipment
  • Safety training or additional industrial certifications
