Position Overview
HOCS Projects is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects across the energy sector.
This role is accountable for project scope, schedule, cost, quality, risk management, client relationships, and overall execution. The Senior Project Manager will provide leadership and direction to project teams while ensuring predictable delivery aligned with client expectations and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering projects from initiation through close-out, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, and quality objectives are achieved.
- Establish project execution strategies, priorities, milestones, deliverables, resources, and project-control requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to engineering and design teams while maintaining accountability for project outcomes.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, cost reports, progress reports, and key performance metrics.
- Maintain oversight of engineering deliverables to ensure quality requirements and planned issue dates are achieved.
- Lead scope management, Management of Change (MOC), baseline control, and project-risk mitigation activities.
- Identify and resolve technical, commercial, schedule, resource, and execution issues affecting project delivery.
- Serve as the primary client interface and maintain effective relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead project review meetings and clearly communicate progress, risks, issues, forecasts, priorities, and key decisions.
- Coordinate engineering disciplines, department leads, vendors, contractors, and stakeholders to support integrated project execution.
- Support proposal development, project estimates, execution planning, and resource forecasting.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable regulatory requirements, codes, client standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Travel to client offices and project sites as required to support engineering execution, field coordination, construction activities, and client engagement.
Education & Professional Registration
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration with APEGA, or eligibility to obtain registration.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible engineering project management experience within an industrial, energy, EPC, or EPCM environment.
- Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering projects with accountability for scope, cost, schedule, and quality performance.
- Strong project-controls capabilities, including:
- Budgeting and cost control
- Forecasting
- Project scheduling
- Progress reporting
- Change management
- Risk management
- Proven experience working directly with clients and coordinating engineering teams and project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of engineering project execution, commercial scope, resource planning, and delivery commitments.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel, along with proficiency across Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Fabrication, construction, field execution, or brownfield project experience is considered an asset.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada.
