The Opportunity

We're looking for a Digital Marketing & CRM Specialist to join our Communications team - someone who gets excited about the intersection of marketing, technology, data, and the people we're ultimately trying to reach. For more than 35 years, HIEC has brought people, education, and employers together to build stronger pathways into the world of work. Today, our work spans career development, workforce development, education, skilled trades, and digital platforms, including ApprenticeSearch.com. It also means we're connecting with a lot of different people, in a lot of different ways.

That's where you come in!

Our digital ecosystem has grown considerably, and we're continuing to strengthen how the pieces work together. You'll work across digital campaigns, email, web, social media, audience engagement, analytics, and digital experience, while also playing an important role in how we continue to evolve HubSpot across HIEC. There's already a strong foundation here. We're looking for someone who's excited to build on it - bringing ideas, asking good questions, trying new approaches, and helping us better understand and connect with the audiences we serve.

What You'll Do

Digital Marketing & Audience Engagement

You'll help us reach the right people with useful, engaging digital experiences — and understand what's working along the way.

  • Plan and execute digital campaigns across email, web, social media, paid advertising, and other digital channels.
  • Develop targeted email and audience engagement campaigns, including segmentation, testing, deployment, and performance analysis.
  • Support website content, landing pages, forms, SEO/SEM, and conversion optimization.
  • Use analytics and reporting to understand digital performance, identify opportunities, and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to digital content and resources that respond to audience needs and support HIEC's programs and services.
  • Support digital marketing activities for program launches, organizational initiatives, campaigns, and events.
  • Stay current on digital trends, tools, and emerging opportunities that can strengthen how we reach and engage our audiences.

CRM & Marketing Automation

A quick note about HubSpot: it's an important part of this role. We're continuing to evolve how we use our CRM - moving beyond individual campaigns toward a more connected approach to audience journeys, automation, data, and measurement.

You'll:

  • Build and manage workflows, automations, forms, lists, properties, email campaigns, landing pages, and reporting within HubSpot.
  • Develop audience segmentation, lifecycle stages, and automated journeys.
  • Support strong CRM practices, including data quality, documentation, governance, and consistent use across teams.
  • Develop dashboards and reporting that help us better understand our audiences, their engagement, and campaign performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve how we capture, organize, use, and understand audience and engagement data.
  • Work with internal teams and external technology partners on integrations between HubSpot, our websites, applications, and other systems.
  • Help colleagues get the most out of HubSpot through training, documentation, and ongoing support.

You don't need to be a developer or know every corner of HubSpot on day one. You should, however, be comfortable getting into the platform, figuring things out, and working with technical partners when something requires expertise beyond your own.

Digital Experience & Continuous Improvement

We care about the experience people have with HIEC before, during, and after they engage with one of our programs or platforms. You'll help us look at the experience as a whole and find ways to improve it.

  • Consider the full digital journey people have with HIEC - from discovering us to engaging with our programs and services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve forms, communications, websites, landing pages, and other digital experiences.
  • Translate program and organizational needs into practical digital solutions.
  • Help develop processes, templates, documentation, and standards that allow our digital work to grow and scale.
  • Test new approaches, learn from the results, and continuously look for opportunities to improve.
  • Work collaboratively across HIEC to support projects, events, and organizational priorities where digital marketing, CRM, or communications expertise can contribute.

What We're Looking For (Beyond the resume)

We're looking for someone who enjoys both the creative and technical sides of digital marketing. You can think about the bigger picture while still being comfortable getting into the tools - whether that's building a workflow, reviewing campaign performance, making an adjustment to a webpage, or figuring out why something isn't working the way you expected.

You don't need to know everything on day one (none of us do). What matters to us is that you bring a strong foundation in digital marketing and CRM, good judgment, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

You'll work with people across HIEC, so being able to listen, ask good questions, understand what someone is trying to accomplish, and translate that into a practical solution matters here.

We're also a relatively small and collaborative organization, which means our work doesn't always fit neatly into boxes. There will be opportunities to contribute ideas, participate in projects and events, meet the people who use and support our programs, and lend a hand when the team needs one. If you like variety and enjoy understanding the work behind the marketing, you'll probably feel at home here.

What You'll Bring (You don't need to check every box)

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Approximately 3–5 years of relevant experience in digital marketing, CRM, marketing automation, or a related area.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot or another CRM and marketing automation platform.
  • Experience developing workflows, automations, audience segmentation, email campaigns, and lifecycle communications.
  • Broad digital marketing experience across areas such as email, websites, SEO/SEM, social media, content, paid advertising, and digital campaigns.
  • Experience using analytics and reporting to understand performance and inform decisions.
  • An understanding of CRM principles, data quality, audience management, and digital customer journeys.
  • Comfort working with websites, content management systems, and digital tools.
  • Strong communication, organization, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with different teams and stakeholders.
  • Technical curiosity and enough systems knowledge to work effectively with developers and technology partners.

Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, digital media, business, or a related field is an asset. We also recognize that skills and expertise can be built in many different ways. If you're reading this list and thinking, I can do this job, but I don't have every single thing listed here, we'd still encourage you to apply.

What We Offer

We want people to have the opportunity to learn, contribute, and do meaningful work while they're here. Along with joining a collaborative team, you'll have access to:

  • Comprehensive extended health and dental benefits
  • Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP)
  • Complimentary Calm app subscription
  • Cell phone reimbursement
  • A hybrid work environment that balances remote work and in-person collaboration
  • Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities
  • Opportunities to contribute across a variety of programs, audiences, projects, and digital platforms

The Details (The stuff you probably came looking for)

  • This is a full-time, fixed contract position covering maternity leave
  • Typical working hours are 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required based on meetings, events, or organizational priorities
  • This position may operate within a hybrid work environment, combining onsite work at HIEC's Burlington office with some remote work, subject to operational needs
  • Some travel within Canada may be required
  • Typical working hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility required based on meetings, events, or organizational priorities
  • $66,538 - $84,000 annual salary

We're looking for someone to join us as soon as possible, with a September 2026 start date preferred. The anticipated end date for this contract is March 2028.

While this position is being hired for a defined term, there may be an opportunity for continued employment beyond the contract based on organizational needs and available opportunities at that time.

Interested?

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to bring together digital marketing, CRM, audience engagement, data, and technology while contributing to work that connects people with education, careers, employers, and opportunities.

If you're excited about building on what's already here, trying new things, and helping us strengthen our connection with our audiences, we would love to hear from you.

A Note About AI and Our Hiring Process

AI is changing how we work, and we think it's important to be transparent about how we use it in our hiring process.

At HIEC, we may use AI tools to support aspects of our recruitment planning and preparation, including developing or refining job postings, interview questions, screening questions, and other recruitment materials. We use these tools to support our work - not to make decisions about people.

Applications are reviewed by people, interviews are conducted by people, and hiring decisions are made by people. We do not rely on AI to automatically assess, rank, or select candidates. Human judgment, context, and accountability remain an important part of every hiring decision we make.

We also recognize that candidates may use AI tools when preparing their applications, and that's okay. If you choose to use AI, we simply ask that what you submit still reflects your own experience, perspective, and interest in the role. AI can help you communicate those things, but we still want the opportunity to get to know you.

We thank everyone who submits an application for their interest! This job opening represents an existing vacancy. Although our team is mighty, it's still small; only successful applicants will be contacted.

HIEC is committed to equity and creating a respectful and inclusive workplace culture that reflects the broad diversity of communities we work with. This includes people who identify as immigrants, refugees, women, Indigenous, Black, LGBTQ2S+, people of colour, and people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for qualified candidates during each stage of the recruitment process. Please contact Human Resources by phone at (905) 634-2575 ext. 107. Candidates applying for Canadian job openings must be authorized to work in Canada.
