Position: Insurance Regulatory Compliance Specialist
Type: Contract
Compensation: $800/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 20–40 hours/week

Role Responsibilities

  • Design realistic scenarios involving state insurance requirements, market conduct, rate and form filings, licensing, consumer notices, complaint handling, privacy, reporting, audits, and corrective action.
  • Create work products such as compliance assessments, control recommendations, filing checklists, regulatory-response plans, monitoring procedures, and remediation summaries.
  • Write "golden" reference responses at experienced insurance-compliance quality.
  • Grade AI-generated responses against structured rubrics for regulatory accuracy, operational feasibility, jurisdictional awareness, and appropriate escalation.
  • Identify overbroad legal conclusions, missing jurisdictional caveats, inadequate controls, incorrect reporting obligations, and matters requiring review by counsel.
  • Provide written feedback the research team uses to improve model behavior.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • 2+ years of professional experience in insurance compliance, regulatory affairs, market conduct, filings, licensing, audit, or risk and controls.
  • Understand how insurance requirements vary by line of business, product, stakeholder, and jurisdiction.
  • Have interpreted regulatory guidance and translated it into policies, procedures, controls, or operational requirements.
  • Can distinguish compliance analysis from legal advice and recognize when counsel should be consulted.
  • Demonstrate excellent written communication, research discipline, and high attention to detail.
  • Are comfortable documenting the basis, scope, assumptions, and limitations of a compliance conclusion.

Preferred

  • CPCU, CCEP, CHC, LOMA, AHIP, or comparable designation.
  • Prior insurance-department, market-conduct examination, or regulatory-audit experience.
  • Rate/form filing, surplus-lines, producer licensing, or health-plan compliance experience.
  • Experience across multiple states or federal and state programs.
  • Experience designing compliance monitoring or corrective-action programs.
