Job Opportunity: Forest Technician
Employee type: Full time, Temporary (with the potential to become permanent full-time)

Compensation: $23/hr - $28/hr
Come Grow with Us! Forsite is actively looking for a Forest Technician with general understanding and experience with British Columbia forestry practices, based out of our Salmon Arm, BC office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Forest Technician is responsible for forest development activities including reconnaissance road/cut block engineering, ecological and riparian assessments, and completing the associated plans, deliverables, and appraisal packages in a safe, timely, cost effective and professional manner. This is a field-based position that has the potential for out of town and camp work.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

- A safety conscious attitude;
- Enthusiastic and passionate about forestry;
- Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions;
- Able to work both independently under limited direct supervision as well as in a dynamic team environment;
- Valid driver's license and safe driving record;
- Post-secondary education with a diploma or degree in a relevant discipline, or 2+ years of related field experience is preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate;
- Able to work out of town for 5- or 10-day shifts;
- Broad understanding of general forestry practices is preferred;
- Good problem solving and decision-making skills; can think critically and proactively to find solutions, and exercise sound judgment in dynamic situations;
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal (and technical writing would be great);
- Professional, friendly, and respectful.
