Commercial Construction Estimator

We are currently recruiting for our client in Rockwood for a Commercial Construction Estimator. This position is a direct hire with the company. This position is not open for students at this time. We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to grow within the organization. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in construction estimating while working on a variety of projects. The ideal candidate is required to have experience in estimating and possess relevant College/University Diploma or comparable. This estimator role is to analyze costs and prepare estimates for specific construction projects. This is a day shift where you will be working the hours of 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday Qualifications At least 2 years of related experience is required A bachelor's degree in mathematics, architecture, or a similar field is required Productive time management, organizational skills Able to work well under pressure and with tight deadlines Works well independently and as part of the project management team Ability to work on multiple assignments and projects at once Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Knowledge of software tools related to computer-aided design and drafting, construction estimation and takeoffs Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic Excellent written and verbal communication skills Knowledge and understanding of onsite order of construction industry standards Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects Knowledge of the latest building codes Close attention to detail Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports Responsibilities: Perform project-specific quantity takeoffs for materials, labour and equipment Works closely with Senior Estimator and General Manager Obtain vendor, supplier and subcontractor pricing per project specifications and generate estimates Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, and drawings Prepare cost analysis by capturing all material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor costs required Follow up on all proposals or bid forms as required Organize, plan and complete estimating work independently Applicants who meet the criteria will be contacted for next steps.
