GrizzlyTrek is hiring GPS machine control operators out of Slave Lake for civil earthworks, lease construction and access roads. This one is a must have.CertificationClass 5 licence, CSTS or equivalent, Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive, First AidResidencyOpen to operators who will travel, with LOA providedStartImmediateThe WorkWork runs out of Slave Lake and across the Lesser Slave Lake region. It is civil earthworks and site prep close in, and lease construction, access roads and reclamation out of town: stripping topsoil, cut and fill, building pads, roads and parking areas, and holding grade to the model. The machines are set up on GPS, so you are building to a design file rather than a stack of stakes, and you are expected to catch a bad model before you build off it.What You'll Do
  • Run dozer, excavator or grader on GPS machine control, building to the design model
  • Load the model, run a localization and benchmark check, and hold grade through the shift
  • Strip topsoil, move cut and fill, and build pads, roads and parking areas to grade
  • Dig, slope and backfill trench for underground utilities and pipe
  • Flag model, base station or rover problems early rather than building off a bad file
  • Complete daily walkarounds, pre-trip inspections and greasing before the machine moves
  • Take part in pre-job safety meetings, hazard assessments and toolbox talks
What You Bring
  • Verifiable GPS machine control seat time on dozer, excavator or grader (Trimble, Topcon or Leica)
  • Able to load a model, run a localization check and hold grade without a grade checker on you
  • Seat time in civil earthworks, lease construction or forestry construction
  • Valid Class 5 licence and reliable transportation to site
  • Common site tickets: CSTS or equivalent, Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive and First Aid
  • Able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and work outdoors through the season
Nice to Have
  • Time on more than one GPS platform (Trimble, Topcon or Leica)
  • A second and third seat: dozer, excavator, grader or loader
  • Class 1 or Class 3 licence for equipment moves and float work
Why Operators Take This JobThe rate is posted at $40.00 with LOA on top, and it is not talked down after the interview, because running GPS is exactly what you are being paid for. The work is booked through the season, so you are not running one job for three weeks and then calling around again. Operators who can actually run a model get the grade work here instead of being handed a machine and a stack of stakes.
Pay is a gross hourly rate before deductions. What We Offer
  • $40.00 per hour, plus Living Out Allowance
  • Overtime available based on operational requirements
  • Life insurance plus AD&D with critical illness and cancer coverage
  • Extended health: drugs, hospital, vision, and paramedical including mental health
  • Dental coverage, including orthodontic coverage for children
  • Travel insurance, plus ongoing training and career development support
