Reporting to the Manager of Talent & Culture, the Health and Safety Coordinator will serve as the organization's health and safety subject matter expert, supporting both our Ottawa head office and international construction and commissioning projects. The successful candidate will be passionate about promoting a safety-first culture, developing effective health and safety programs, and influencing safe work practices across office, field, and project teams globally.

YOUR CHALLENGE:

  • Champion a safety-first culture across the organization with a focus on compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate HSE policies, procedures, standards, and best-practice guidance in alignment with applicable legislation and industry practices.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, emerging risks, training needs, and opportunities to strengthen safety performance across the organization.
  • Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Coordinate meetings, agendas, minutes, inspections, recommendations, and follow-up actions.
  • Oversee and investigate incidents and support modified work programs as required.
  • Oversee day-to-day H&S requirements for ProSlide's Head Office and Pro Lab facilities
  • Conduct regular office and Pro Lab health and safety inspections and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and testing of workplace emergency and evacuation plans.
  • Participate in pre-deployment meetings for team members throughout the project cycle.
  • Ensure employees travelling to international projects to receive appropriate safety information and training before deployment.
  • Partners with the Global Field Services and RV Commissioning teams to support the safe deployment of our team members across the world.
  • Support the Project Management team with the development of health and safety documentation specific to their projects, providing advice and support for all HSE items for a safe and successful project.
  • Maintain accurate H&S training and competency records, certifications, and renewals.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Post-secondary education of a degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and Environment or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in an HSE-related role, ideally within the construction industry.
  • A strong understanding of provincial regulations and programs, knowledge of international legislation is considered an asset.
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) considered a desired asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with employees at all levels in various locations.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Expected salary range: $60,000-$80,000
