Job Details:
We are a construction company based in Calgary, Alberta with projects located in Alberta. We specialize in commercial products and finishes, providing award-winning facilities.
This is a full-time, permanent, salaried position in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. The workweek is Monday – Friday, 8 hours per day. Attendance at the workplace is a requirement.

As a member of our diverse and skilled team, you will have the opportunity to wear lots of hats and be challenged daily. You will be working in both Percentage Completion and Completed Contract methods of accounting.
The ideal candidate will have attention to detail and focus on ensuring structure, integrity and compliance.
Key responsibilities
· Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close and reporting processes in both Quickbooks and a custom construction software for 5 entities.
· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements including the development and review of supporting working papers.
· Oversee full-cycle accounting, including capital accounting, payroll and banking activities
· Provide leadership and oversight of the Accounts Payable team, including banking administration and regular payment runs
· Complete monthly invoices as directed by Project Managers and follow up on Accounts Receivable collections as needed.
· Ensure compliance with Canadian regulatory requirements and internal controls
· Oversee GST filing, Payroll and processing and related statutory remittances.
· Manage cash flow, budgeting and liquidity monitoring
· Coordinate external compilations and reviews. Closely collaborate with external accountants to ensure accurate and timely yearend financial reporting and corporate tax filings.
· Complete CRA mandatory annual filings ie T4's, T5's, T5018's.
· Update construction prequalification platform annually.
· Collaborate with operation and executive leadership to provide financial insight and decision support.
· Assist, collaborate and enable the IT Team ensuring up-to-date software and equipment.
· Develop and nurture strong relationships with the bank Commercial Relationship Manager, accountants and lawyers.
· Organize, record and document Investing activities
· Benefit Program Administrator and manager.
Qualifications
· 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction
· CPA designation preferred
· Experience with capital accounting, payroll, banking, cash flow management and people leadership
· Intermediate Excel skills required, experience with construction software
