In your job as Purchasing and Inventory Coordinator, you are responsible for conducting purchasing activities, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs and managing material inventory. You will optimize purchasing activities and processes as well as source new products as needed. You have excellent communication and organizational skills and are highly detail-oriented.

We are looking for someone who is in the Waterloo region and able to work in-office due to the nature of work performed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Quoting & procuring production parts & materials
  • Shipping and receiving orders, and advising on ETA of inbound orders
  • Managing material inventory
  • Qualify new suppliers and maintaining relationships with existing suppliers
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase order records and related documentation
  • Conducting spend analysis and identifying cost savings opportunities
  • Developing and improving purchasing strategies

Required Skills/Experience

  • Post-secondary degree in Business Administration, Management Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management
  • 2+ years experience in a purchasing role involving import/export and custom fabrication
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Superior communication skills, written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Independent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proven organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Experience with Google Suite, especially Google Sheets

Nice to Haves

  • Understanding of engineering drawings
  • Familiarity with components such as electrical components and fasteners
  • Experience working at a startup or small company
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiar working with inventory management software or ERP systems
