Pre-Engineered Building Superintendent

Position: Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time
Industry: Commercial / Industrial Construction
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Pre-Engineered Building Superintendent to oversee the safe, efficient, and high-quality erection of pre-engineered steel building projects.

This is a site leadership position responsible for overall field operations, including coordinating erection crews, subcontractors, cranes and equipment, materials, schedules, safety, quality, and communication with project management.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with pre-engineered buildings and understands the complete erection process—from anchor bolts and structural steel through roofing, wall panels, trims, and final deficiencies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall site supervision for pre-engineered building projects.
  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly construction activities to maintain the project schedule.
  • Supervise and coordinate foremen, erection crews, subcontractors, crane operators, equipment operators, and other trades.
  • Read and interpret erection drawings, structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversee erection of primary and secondary structural steel, including columns, rafters, girts, purlins, bracing, and related components.
  • Oversee installation of metal roofing, wall panels, insulation systems, trims, flashing, doors, openings, and building accessories.
  • Verify anchor bolt locations, elevations, dimensions, and site conditions before erection begins.
  • Ensure structural components are erected plumb, level, properly aligned, and completed according to drawings and specifications.
  • Coordinate cranes, aerial lifts, telehandlers, deliveries, staging areas, and other equipment required for erection.
  • Coordinate material deliveries and ensure materials are properly received, stored, protected, and available when required.
  • Monitor project schedules and crew productivity and identify potential delays before they impact the project.
  • Work closely with project managers to communicate progress, manpower requirements, material issues, changes, and site conditions.
  • Coordinate work with general contractors, owners, consultants, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Maintain daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, deliveries, equipment, delays, weather conditions, and site issues.
  • Conduct regular quality-control inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
  • Manage project punch lists and ensure work is completed to the required standard before turnover.

Safety Leadership

The Superintendent is responsible for setting and maintaining a strong safety culture on site.

Responsibilities include:

  • Enforcing company and site-specific safety policies.
  • Conducting and participating in toolbox talks and safety meetings.
  • Ensuring appropriate fall protection and PPE are used at all times.
  • Reviewing erection sequences and lift plans before critical work begins.
  • Ensuring proper rigging and safe crane operations.
  • Identifying hazards and correcting unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Ensuring crews understand safe work procedures before beginning work.
  • Maintaining an organized and professional jobsite.

Safety is never sacrificed for production or schedule.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience with pre-engineered metal building erection is required.
  • Previous experience as a PEB Superintendent, Steel Erection Superintendent, Site Superintendent, Erection Foreman, or similar leadership position is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of complete pre-engineered building erection sequences and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of structural steel, metal roofing, wall systems, insulation, trims, flashing, and building accessories.
  • Ability to read and understand erection drawings, structural plans, architectural drawings, and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of cranes, rigging, lifting procedures, aerial equipment, and working safely at heights.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety requirements and fall-protection procedures.
  • Ability to plan manpower, equipment, deliveries, and erection sequences.
  • Strong leadership and ability to effectively manage multiple crews and subcontractors.
  • Excellent communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify potential problems early and develop practical field solutions.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a field leader who takes ownership of the entire project site.

You should be able to arrive on a project, understand the drawings and schedule, develop an erection plan, coordinate manpower and equipment, manage foremen and subcontractors, and keep the project moving safely and efficiently.

This position requires someone who can see the big picture while still paying attention to the details that determine whether a pre-engineered building is erected correctly.

You will be expected to anticipate problems rather than react to them, communicate clearly with project management, and maintain high expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism.

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, including:

  • Competitive compensation based on experience.
  • Medical benefits.
  • Dental benefits.
  • Retirement plan.
  • Company vehicle
  • Full-time employment.
  • Opportunities for overtime where applicable.
  • Challenging commercial and industrial projects.
  • Opportunity to lead significant pre-engineered building projects.
  • Support from experienced project management and field teams.
  • Long-term career opportunity for the right candidate.
