Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to join our construction team following a recent transition within the role. The Construction Manager will lead and oversee all phases of construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to a high standard of quality. The Construction Manager will coordinate site activities, consultants, subcontractors, and trades while maintaining strong communication with internal teams, clients, and municipal authorities. This role will proactively address project issues, monitor progress, and ensure work aligns with approved plans, specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards. The Construction Manager plays a key role in the successful delivery of projects while fostering strong working relationships and maintaining a safe, organized, and professional construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities, site personnel, contractors, trades, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, costs, and progress to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Coordinate site work and ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, permits, and safety standards.
  • Conduct site inspections and safety audits, maintaining accurate site and project documentation.
  • Lead regular site meetings and maintain effective communication with internal teams, consultants, contractors, clients, and municipal officials.
  • Review work schedules, procurement plans, change orders, time entries, and material orders.
  • Identify and resolve design, scheduling, equipment, and other on-site issues.
  • Coordinate municipal inspections, permits, and approvals.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to management.
  • Mentor and support site supervisors, trades, and subcontractors, including evaluating performance.
  • Contribute to budgeting, cost-saving initiatives, estimating, resource planning, and development activities.
  • Make day-to-day site decisions and escalate significant budget, scope, design, or project risks to leadership.
  • Ensure work meets quality standards and approve site readiness for inspections and project milestones.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, a skilled trade, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in residential, commercial, or mixed-use construction.
  • Strong knowledge of Ontario Building Code, construction methods, project scheduling, permits, inspections, and Ministry of Labour requirements.
  • Health and safety training, including WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Supervisor Training.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Gold Seal, Project Management, or Leadership certification is considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, timelines, subcontractors, and site teams effectively.
  • Experience building and leading high-performing site teams.
  • Proficiency with Buildertrend and Apli; experience with Yardi or similar construction/project management software is an asset.
  • Experience with tenant improvements, renovations, or high-rise construction is an asset.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction and LEED practices is considered an asset.
