A well-established construction and heavy equipment operation in the Rockland, Ontario area is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join its Heavy Duty Division. This is a stable, long-term opportunity replacing a senior mechanic who is retiring. The role is a mix of shop-based and local field work, focused on keeping a modern fleet operating safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime. All field work is local—no long-distance travel required.

Schedule & Work-Life Balance

  • Monday to Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • 44–46 hours per week
  • Overtime paid after 44 hours
  • Very rare weekend work (~1%)
  • Strong emphasis on work-life balance

Compensation & Benefits

  • $38.00 – $45.00 per hour to start
  • Overtime pay

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment, including: Excavators, Articulated dump trucks (25–30 ton), Dozers, Loaders, Backhoes, Crushers, screeners, conveyors, Rollers and compactors
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
  • Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Follow all safety protocols and industry standards

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic
    (construction, fleet, dealership, or industrial background preferred)
  • Heavy Equipment Mechanic license not required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with diesel-powered equipment
  • Experience with Caterpillar and/or John Deere equipment is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Safety-focused with strong attention to detail
