Electrical Engineer Manager
Lead the Team. Own the Discipline. Help Build What's Next.
CANUSA EPC is a growing, mid-sized EPC firm delivering complex energy and infrastructure projects across Canada and the United States.
Our current and upcoming portfolio includes CO₂ capture, natural gas processing, compression, helium recovery, and low-carbon power generation projects—and we're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead and continue developing our electrical engineering team in Calgary.
This is a hands-on engineering leadership role with responsibility for both the people and technical performance of the electrical group.
You'll lead and develop engineers and designers, manage resources across projects, establish engineering standards, oversee quality and budgets, and serve as a senior electrical technical authority for our clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
If you're an experienced Electrical Engineer who wants the opportunity to build a team, influence how projects are executed, and play a meaningful role in the growth of an EPC organization, we'd like to meet you.
What You'll Lead
People & Department Leadership
As Electrical Engineering Manager, you'll be responsible for building a strong, technically capable electrical team.
You'll:
- Lead, mentor, and develop Electrical Engineers and Designers.
- Manage department staffing, workload, priorities, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
- Participate in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding electrical team members.
- Conduct performance reviews and support individual career and professional development.

- Establish expectations for technical quality, accountability, communication, and project execution.
- Promote collaboration and technical knowledge sharing across the department.
- Work with senior leadership to support the continued growth and development of the electrical engineering group.

- Serve as a senior electrical technical authority for CANUSA EPC projects.
- Establish and maintain electrical engineering standards, specifications, procedures, templates, and design tools.
- Oversee electrical engineering quality and consistency across projects.
- Lead and review complex electrical designs and calculations.
- Provide technical review of critical electrical engineering deliverables.
- Lead or review power system studies including:
- Load flow
- Short-circuit
- Protective device coordination
- Arc-flash
- Motor starting
- Harmonic analysis
- Oversee the design and specification of:
- MV and LV power distribution systems
- Substations
- Transformers
- Switchgear and MCCs
- Large motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Emergency and standby generation
- Grounding systems
- Electrical heat-tracing systems
- Provide technical leadership for hazardous-location electrical design.
- Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable Canadian codes, client requirements, and CANUSA EPC engineering and quality standards.
Project & Commercial Management
This role goes beyond technical engineering. You'll help ensure the electrical department executes projects successfully from both an engineering and business perspective.
- Manage electrical engineering man-hour budgets, schedules, deliverables, and resource forecasts.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify scope, schedule, resource, or budget concerns.
- Coordinate electrical resources across multiple concurrent projects.
- Work closely with Project Managers to establish project scope, schedules, staffing plans, and engineering estimates.
- Support proposals, project estimates, and business development activities.
- Evaluate electrical scope changes and associated impacts to project cost and schedule.
- Support equipment procurement and technical bid evaluations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design, constructability, and quality reviews.
- Support field engineering, construction, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities as required.
Client Leadership
You'll also represent CANUSA EPC directly with our clients.
- Serve as a client-facing electrical engineering leader.
- Develop strong working relationships with client engineering, operations, and project teams.
- Lead electrical discussions during client, project, and vendor meetings.
- Communicate technical recommendations clearly and confidently.
- Help resolve complex engineering and project execution challenges.
- Represent CANUSA EPC's electrical engineering capabilities during proposals and business development discussions.
The Projects You'll Support

You should be comfortable developing engineers, balancing workloads, managing project budgets, communicating with clients, establishing standards, and stepping into technical decisions when your team needs direction.
We're looking for someone who wants to build and lead a strong electrical engineering team.
Location & Work Arrangement
This is a full-time position based in our Calgary, Alberta office and is not a fully remote role.
CANUSA EPC values in-person collaboration, particularly because our multidisciplinary engineering teams work closely together throughout project execution.
We provide hybrid flexibility as needed for appointments, personal obligations, and other circumstances, while maintaining an in-office collaborative environment as our standard work arrangement.
Periodic travel to client offices, project sites, and other CANUSA EPC locations throughout Canada and the United States may be required.
Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada and able to travel to project locations as required.
What We Offer
- A true engineering management role with the opportunity to influence how the electrical department operates and grows.
- Direct interaction with senior leadership.
- Opportunity to build, mentor, and develop your engineering team.

- Support for continued professional registration and technical development.
Ready to Lead?
If you're an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong technical judgment, project experience, and a passion for developing people, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on both our projects and the team delivering them.
Don't meet every preferred qualification? Apply anyway.
We're looking for the right engineering leader not someone who happens to check every box.
If you're currently a Lead or Senior Electrical Engineer who's ready to step into management, we want to hear from you too.
CANUSA EPC is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where every individual is treated with dignity and respect, and where different experiences and perspectives strengthen our team.
