Recreation Program Coordinators are responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality recreation programs for children ages 7–13. Our program includes a variety of engaging activities, adventure days, and excursions throughout the Okanagan. On a day-to-day basis, Program Coordinators oversee program activities, support staff and participants, and ensure each program runs safely, smoothly, and successfully.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of assigned recreation programs.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates plans and programs designed to ensure that the needs of children, youth, and families are met.
  • Ensures that program standards, guidelines and policies of BGCO are maintained and that all licensing requirements are met.
  • Assists with the recruitment of program staff and volunteers including conducting interviews, selection, hiring, and orientation.
  • Authority for the day-to-day direction, performance feedback of program staff and volunteers. Addresses staff workplace issues and assists in resolving workplace disputes.
  • Ensures that accurate program and client records are maintained, and that confidentiality is a priority.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination of quality and diverse programming. Works closely with the Manager on program development, procedures, and evaluations.
  • Liaises with community service providers and other professionals to coordinate service provision, facilitate referrals to the program and represent the organization and program in external events.
  • Manages program budgets.
  • Maintains related records and statistics and produces reports as required.
  • Ensures effective communication with staff and families.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma in a related human/social service field
  • Three (3) years of recent related experience including one (1) year supervisory or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Demonstrated teamwork, leadership, and supervisory skills.
  • First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain
  • Class 5 Drivers Licence and willingness to obtain Class 4
  • Successfully completion of the Agency screening process, including criminal record check

Please Note:

  • This position is open to all applicants
  • This position requires union membership

Hours: 35 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, evenings and weekends required.

Rate of Pay: $24.69 per hour
