Description

Our client is looking for an experienced EHS Coordinator to join their team in Mississauga, ON. This hands-on role will champion workplace safety, environmental health, and regulatory compliance across Ontario operations. You'll support a strong safety culture through site inspections, employee training, incident investigations, hazard identification, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide hands-on EHS support through regular site visits and field coaching.

  • Ensure compliance with Ontario health and safety legislation, including OHSA, Construction Regulations, and Book 7 traffic control standards.

  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

  • Support COR program requirements and manage COR audit activities.

  • Work with unionized teams, including LiUNA, to promote and maintain safety standards.

  • Identify hazards and implement proactive risk-reduction strategies.

  • Lead safety training and provide coaching to employees and supervisors.

  • Maintain online compliance and EHS management systems.

  • Support WSIB reporting and return-to-work processes.

  • Work with MOL inspectors and support regulatory inspections and visits.

  • Monitor safety performance, analyze trends, and use data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Travel approximately 20–50% to other branches and sites across Ontario as needed.

What You Must Have

  • OHS diploma or certificate.

  • Valid Ontario JHSC Certification – Part 1 & 2.

  • 5–10 years of progressive Health & Safety experience, ideally in construction or heavy industry.

  • Strong understanding of Book 7.

  • Experience supporting multi-site operations in Ontario.

  • Strong knowledge of Ontario HSE legislation and Construction Regulations.

  • Experience with the COR (Ontario) program; COR Auditor certification is an asset.

  • Experience working in unionized construction environments; LiUNA experience is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of WSIB processes, reporting, and return-to-work practices.

  • Experience leading inspections, investigations, and safety training.

  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office and digital HSE/compliance platforms.

  • Experience working with MOL inspectors and supporting regulatory visits.

  • Ability to analyze safety data, identify trends, and develop proactive risk-reduction strategies.
