Job Title: Feeder Machine Operator I
Location: Milton, ON L9T 5C3
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 12:00 AM
Pay: $23–26/hr
Position Overview
The Feeder Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role involves performing machine set-ups, conducting safety checks, reading basic drawings and layouts, monitoring production processes, performing basic preventative maintenance, and ensuring completed orders are accurately organized and routed. The ideal candidate will have hands-on fabrication experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety, quality, and production efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and safely operate fabrication equipment, including shearing, punching, and bending/Press Brake machines.
- Perform pre-start safety checks on machines and supporting equipment.
- Set up machines and ensure guards, interlocks, light curtains, and other safety features are functioning correctly.
- Work from drawings, sketches, manufacturing information, and written/verbal instructions.
- Determine dimensions and sequence of operations for fabrication.
- Feed material through machines and monitor operations to prevent jams, blockages, or breakage.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance as required.
- Operate Dynamic Machine Management (DMM) software.
- Use drawing vault software such as Enovia/Vault to access and print fabrication drawings.
- Organize completed production orders using proper bins, tagging, pallets, and routing to the next operation.
- Perform other production/fabrication duties as required.
Key Experience Required
- 2–3 years of CNC Sheet Metal / Press Brake set-up and operating experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of fabrication experience operating at least one of the following:
- Press Brake / Bending machines
- Shearing machines
- Punching machines
- Hands-on experience with machine set-up and operation, not just general machine operating experience.
- Experience working in a manufacturing/fabrication environment.
- Ability to read and understand basic drawings, sketches, dimensions, and layouts.
- Completed High School Diploma.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
- Must reside within 80 km of Milton, ON.
Preferred Skills
- Strong CNC Sheet Metal / Press Brake experience.
- Machine set-up experience is highly preferred.
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings and layouts.
- Good mathematical and measurement skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Basic computer skills, including MS Word and Excel.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work safely on multiple tasks in a manufacturing environment.
