Contribution to the College Pension Plan is optional for employees in this division, with standard contributions matched by the Employer.Description:Northern Lights College requires an instructor to teach one section of CPSC 101: Introduction to Computing.This is an introductory course for students who have little or no experience with computers. The emphasis of this course is on basic computer concepts with some hands-on applications. The course will provide an overview of the concepts of word processing, electronic spreadsheets, presentation software, worldwide web tools and database management. Students will use some application software packages. Other computer concepts and applications will be discussed. Some basic concepts of computer programming will be discussed.CPSC 101 consists of 22.5 hours of contact plus 22.5 hours of lab with students plus preparation time for a total contract of 84.50 hours. Weekly schedule is: Mon/Wed 1:15 to 2:45pmQualifications:Required:Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline (Relevant post-secondary education combined with Microsoft Office training may be considered;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Commitment to student motivation and success; and theAbility to function effectively as a team member through collaborative approaches to course pedagogy.Preferred:Demonstrable success in teaching at the post-secondary level; andExperience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.We thank all applicants for their interest in employment with NLC, however; only those contacted for an interview will be acknowledged.
