About Us

For over 40 years, D&M Concrete Products Ltd. has been a staple in Central Alberta. Operating out of our 10,000 sq. ft. precast production shop, we manufacture high-quality precast concrete products for the agricultural, commercial, oilfield, and residential sectors. "Our Product is Solid... Our Service is Too," and we rely on skilled tradespeople to build the structural rebar, metal forms, and custom steel components that back up that promise.

We are currently seeking a Journeyman Welder and an Apprentice Welder to join our team in Lacombe County.

What You'll Do

  • Journeyman: Fabricate, fit, and weld steel rebar cages, custom metal forms, structural embedments, and steel assemblies for precast concrete production.
  • Apprentice: Support fabrication by cutting, grinding, fitting rebar, preparing steel materials, and performing tack/production welds under Journeyman guidance.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols to ensure structural precision.
  • Inspect completed welds for quality, strength, and alignment against specifications.
  • Assist with repair, maintenance, and modification of production equipment, steel molds, and shop machinery.
  • Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and shop equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Skills

Journeyman Welder:

  • Red Seal or Journeyman Welder Ticket (AB Apprenticeship & Industry Training or equivalent).
  • 3+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, rebar tying/welding, or manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in GMAW (MIG) and SMAW (Stick) welding process.
  • High blueprint reading proficiency and strong math skills for layout work.

Apprentice Welder:

  • Enrolled in an accredited Welder Apprenticeship program (1st to 3rd Period) or a recent Pre-Employment Welding certificate graduate.
  • Basic welding experience (MIG) and familiarity with shop hand tools, grinders, and torches.
  • Eager to learn, takes direction well, and works safely around heavy equipment.

General Requirements (Both Roles):

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation to our Lacombe County facility.
  • Physical stamina: Able to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long shifts, and perform repetitive heavy manual work.
  • Overhead crane and forklift certifications are an asset (training provided).
