Technical Excellence. Exceptional Design. Help Shape the Firm's Technical Future.

About the Firm

Our client is an award winning Vancouver architecture and design studio known for highly considered, contemporary work and a distinctly West Coast approach to design.

The studio works across a deliberately diverse range of project types and scales, from highly detailed custom residential and smaller architectural projects through to multifamily, mixed use, educational, civic and community work. Their portfolio has received significant recognition nationally and internationally.

Design, materiality, craft and experimentation are central to the practice. The studio is highly collaborative and hands on, with a strong belief that exceptional technical execution is fundamental to great architecture.

As the firm continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced technical professional to work alongside leadership and help strengthen and develop the technical side of the practice.

The Opportunity

This is not simply a senior production role.

You will become a key technical resource within the studio, bringing deep expertise in construction documentation, detailing, building assemblies and constructability.

A major focus will be helping leadership develop a stronger technical department, including documentation standards, QA/QC, detailing resources, technical processes and mentorship across the team.

The ideal person brings an interesting combination of experience: a strong portfolio of smaller scale, highly detailed and design driven architecture, together with experience delivering larger, technically complex projects, particularly institutional work.

You understand the precision and craft required on smaller projects, but also the coordination, documentation and technical rigor required at a much larger scale.

The Role

  • Lead complex construction documentation and technical detailing.
  • Develop sophisticated architectural details and building assemblies.
  • Translate strong design concepts into technically resolved solutions.
  • Lead and review Revit drawing packages.
  • Provide technical guidance across project teams.
  • Coordinate complex multidisciplinary consultant teams.
  • Review documentation for quality, constructability and coordination.
  • Support projects through permit, tender and construction.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate technical staff.
  • Develop technical standards, resources and QA/QC processes.
  • Work with leadership to help build the firm's technical department.

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of architectural industry experience.
  • Senior Architectural Technologist, Technical Architect or similar background.
  • Exceptional construction documentation and detailing expertise.
  • Strong portfolio of smaller scale, highly detailed architectural projects.
  • Experience working within highly design oriented architectural practices.
  • Significant experience on larger, complex projects.
  • Institutional project experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Revit skills.
  • Deep knowledge of building assemblies, envelope systems and constructability.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code and Vancouver Building By-law.
  • Ability to maintain design intent through technical development.
  • Strong mentorship and technical leadership capabilities.

What's Offered

  • Competitive compensation, based on experience.
  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Comprehensive benefits.
  • Award winning, design focused studio.
  • Diverse projects across both small and large scales.
  • Collaborative and supportive culture.
  • Direct collaboration with firm leadership.
  • Opportunity to help build a dedicated technical department.
  • Significant influence over technical standards and project delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves the technical craft of architecture, has worked in strong design environments and wants to bring that expertise into a role with real influence.

If you can move comfortably between the intricate detailing of a highly considered small scale project and the technical complexity of a major institutional project, we would love to hear from you.
