This role involves replenishing production workstations, managing inventory levels, performing kitting tasks, and coordinating with various departments to ensure smooth operations. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate material handling equipment safely and efficiently. Job SummaryThe Inventory (Shipping) Clerk is responsible for preparing, processing, and managing outgoing shipments in a warehouse or distribution environment. This role ensures that orders are accurately picked, packed, labeled, and shipped in a timely manner, including the preparation of customs documentation and classification of goods using tariff (HS) codes for international shipments, while complying with company procedures and safety standards. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and process outgoing shipments according to company proceduresPick and pack orders accurately based on shipping documentationLabel, weigh, and verify shipment contents before dispatchPrepare and complete customs documentation for international shipments (e.g., commercial invoices, export declarations, HS/tariff codes, certificates of origin)Accurately classify goods using Harmonized System (HS) tariff codesEnsure compliance with all applicable import/export regulations and trade requirementsCoordinate with carriers and schedule pickups and deliveriesMaintain accurate shipping records and documentation (e.g., bills of lading, packing slips)Inspect shipments for accuracy and quality prior to releaseTrack shipments and resolve discrepancies, delays, or customs-related issuesCommunicate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams regarding shipping requirementsOperate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified)Maintain a clean and organized work areaFollow all workplace safety policies and procedures QualificationsExceptional command of the English language, including clear and easily understood verbal communication, professional writing skills, and strong reading comprehension.Previous experience in shipping, warehouse, logistics, or international shipping preferredDemonstrated knowledge of tariff classification and HS codes is preferredExperience preparing customs documentation and working with brokers or freight forwardersBasic understanding of import/export regulations (e.g., CBSA guidelines is an asset)Proficiency in computer systems and shipping/ERP softwareStrong attention to detail and accuracyAbility to read and interpret shipping and customs documentsGood communication and organizational skills Physical RequirementsAbility to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs (23 kg)Comfortable working in a warehouse environment Skills & CompetenciesTime management and multitasking abilitiesStrong problem-solving skills, especially related to shipping and customs issuesKnowledge of tariff classification and regulatory complianceTeam-oriented mindsetReliability and punctualityHigh level of attention to detail
