About the OpportunityFuze HR is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant on behalf of a well-established public accounting firm in Ontario. Our client provides audit, tax, and advisory services to a diverse portfolio of corporate and not-for-profit clients and is known for its personalized approach, collaborative culture, and commitment to long-term client relationships.

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing financial statements and tax filings while leading and managing assurance and audit engagements from planning through completion. You will work closely with clients, managers, partners, team members, and regulatory bodies to ensure engagements are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare financial statements and tax filings for corporate and not-for-profit clients.
  • Lead and manage assurance and audit engagements from planning through completion.
  • Conduct financial statement audits for corporate clients.
  • Review accounting records and financial information to identify discrepancies, risks, and areas requiring attention.
  • Apply IFRS, ASPE, and ASNPO standards across client engagements.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, partners, managers, team members, and regulatory bodies.
  • Provide regular updates on engagement progress, issues, and significant developments.
  • Mentor and support junior accounting team members.
  • Assist with performance reviews, recruitment, team development, and other leadership initiatives.
  • Stay current with accounting standards, tax legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of public accounting experience.
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing a CPA is considered an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience with audit, assurance, financial statement preparation, and tax filings.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, ASPE, and ASNPO.
  • Experience with CaseWare, QuickBooks, Sage/Simply Accounting, and TaxPrep is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and audit procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and client-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and colleagues.
What You BringThe ideal candidate is an experienced public accountant who is confident working independently while also taking a leadership role within engagements. You bring strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex accounting matters clearly to clients and internal stakeholders.
