Armour Transportation Systems is excited to welcome a detail-oriented, motivated, and experienced Accountant to our team in Dartmouth, NS. Reporting to the Operations Controller, this role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, supporting accurate financial reporting, and contributing to process improvements that help the business run efficiently.
Position Overview: The Accountant will support month-end accounting activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and operational analysis. This position plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing timely reporting, assisting with compliance requirements, and partnering with internal teams to provide useful financial information. The successful candidate will be organized, analytical, and proactive, with a strong focus on accuracy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Support month-end accounting activities, including journal entries, prepaid accounts, intercompany chargebacks, and recurring entries.
- Prepare required support documentation for review and approval.
- Complete overhead analysis, bank transaction clearing, and related accounting entries.
- Reconcile, analyze, and maintain general ledger accounts and sub-ledgers.
Month End Reporting
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly financial packages, statements, schedules, and supporting data.
- Prepare account analysis, reconciliations, and reporting to support accurate financial results.
- Provide financial information and analysis to operational teams as required.
- Submit account reconciliations with clear supporting details to validate balances.
Other Duties as Required
- Support compliance audits, reviews, and monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements.
- Assist with accounting projects, process improvements, and reporting initiatives.
- Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop ad hoc reports and complete other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum three years of finance or accounting experience, preferably in an operational accounting environment.
- Degree or diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation, or equivalent qualification, completed or in progress.
- Strong experience with account reconciliations, financial analysis, and general ledger maintenance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated team player with the ability to take ownership of processes and recommend improvements.
