Shift Schedule

Days: 7:00AM – 3:30PM

Position Summary

The Scale House Attendant is responsible for accurately weighing vehicles, processing incoming and outgoing loads, maintaining records, and providing professional customer service to drivers and customers. The position plays an important role in ensuring that all scale transactions are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with company policies and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the truck scale and accurately record vehicle weights.
  • Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks and issue weight tickets.
  • Record load information, vehicle details, customer information, and other required data.
  • Verify delivery, pickup, and load documentation.
  • Enter transactions accurately into the scale and computer systems.
  • Communicate with truck drivers, customers, dispatchers, and site personnel.
  • Direct drivers to the appropriate loading, unloading, or staging areas.
  • Monitor vehicle traffic entering and leaving the facility.
  • Identify and report discrepancies in weights, loads, paperwork, or transactions.
  • Process payments or other transaction-related documentation as required.
  • Maintain accurate daily records, reports, and scale-house documentation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional scale-house environment.
  • Follow all company policies, health and safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
  • Report equipment problems, safety hazards, and operational concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience in a scale house, dispatch, transportation, waste management, recycling, construction, or a similar environment is an asset.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and maintain accurate records.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.

Working Conditions

The Scale House Attendant works primarily in a scale-house environment and may interact regularly with truck drivers, customers, and other site personnel. The position may involve working in varying weather conditions and being exposed to truck traffic, noise, dust, and outdoor site conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to occasionally walk around the facility and access outdoor areas.
  • Ability to perform duties safely in an active truck and industrial environment.

Safety Responsibilities

All duties must be performed in accordance with company health and safety policies. The Scale House Attendant is expected to remain alert to hazards, follow site traffic procedures, use required personal protective equipment, and immediately report unsafe conditions or incidents.
