About the Role

As a Machine Shop Helper at Advanced Material Handling, you will play a vital role in supporting the machine shop team with setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC machines. This role is ideal for an apprentice in their 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year looking to gain hands-on experience in machining, programming, and quality control in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CNC Machine Operation: Setup and run CNC Lathes and Mills as per provided drawings.
  • Production Support: Assist in producing parts in a job shop-style machine shop, making a variety of different products.
  • Quality Control: Inspect and verify parts against blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Report CNC machine repair needs and assist in maintaining tools and equipment.
  • Material Handling: Ensure proper handling and organization of raw materials and finished parts.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the machine shop supervisor and team to meet production goals.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support efforts to optimize programs, reduce machine spindle time, and improve efficiency.
  • Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean and safe work area, following all company policies and safety regulations.


Experience & Skills:

  • Currently enrolled as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-year machinist apprentice (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with Haas control systems (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Overhead crane experience is an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and safely in a manufacturing environment.
