About the Role

We are searching for reliable, punctual, resourceful, and proficient IT Field Technicians to travel to Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) franchisee locations across Canada to support comprehensive New Restaurant Opening (NRO) / New Store Opening (NSO) installations. This is an independent contractor engagement, well suited to self-employed technicians or incorporated contractors managing their own schedule, tools, and travel logistics.

Primary Responsibilities

Your role will include, but may not necessarily be limited to:

• Installing, configuring, and, as necessary, upgrading network hardware (e.g., switches, firewalls, wireless access points) as well as all peripheral hardware (e.g., kitchen display systems, self-service kiosks, drive-thru timers, point of sale registers, digital menu boards).

• Troubleshooting and resolving local area network (LAN/WAN), Wi-Fi, and VPN connectivity/communication issues.

• Ensuring all local systems are configured and operating properly by collaborating among a larger aggregate team of vendor partners. Independently verifying that all local systems are configured and operating properly, coordinating as needed with other on-site vendor partners.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• CompTIA A+ Certification.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Valid/current driver's license.

• Reliable ground transportation for travel to/from sites, as well as both willingness and ability to travel by air, as needed.

• Ability to lift heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs / 23 kg) and stand or bend during on-site installations.

• Legally eligible to work as an independent contractor in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional related certifications, such as CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+.

• Associate of Applied Science (or similar) degree in a core branch or major focus area of Information Technology, such as Cybersecurity, Software Development, IT Infrastructure/Systems Administration, Cloud Computing, IT Support & Help Desk, or Data Management & Analytics.

• 2–3 years of hands-on experience in IT Support or Field Service, or a combination thereof.

• 1–2 years of experience supporting Quick Serve Restaurant (QSR) operations, or demonstrated mastery of operations knowledge.

Proven Track Record For

◦ Deploying infrastructure within compressed timeframes with minimal onsite/virtual IT support.

◦ Centrally managing systems across multiple locations with browser-based tools.

◦ Coordinating infrastructure updates/upgrades with minimal downtime and minimal supervision.

◦ Both consolidating and prioritizing support needs with multiple vendors and multiple vendor-developed tools.

◦ Supporting High Availability (HA) and Failover Technology data protection solutions and virtualized workload models.

◦ Visualizing multiple scenarios and execution steps to ensure applications and systems remain online during hardware failure.

◦ Deploying both all-new and retrofit solutions, including all relevant upgrades, while not disrupting daily operations.

Engagement Details

• This position is engaged as an independent contractor (self-employed), not as an employee. The contractor is responsible for their own tools/equipment (unless otherwise specified), transportation, applicable insurance, and remittance of their own taxes (e.g., GST/HST registration where applicable, and income tax) in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requirements.

• Assignments are project-based and scheduled around NRO/NSO installation timelines, which may include evenings, weekends, and short-notice travel. Contractors are free to accept or decline individual project assignments

• Compensation: $35-$40 CAD. Rate to be confirmed in the individual contractor agreement
