RESPONSIBILITIES
An Equipment Operator with Highstreet plays an important role in keeping our fast-paced multi-family construction sites safe, clean, organized, and running efficiently. This role is responsible for the safe operation of a rough-terrain telehandler (Zoom Boom) and skid steer, material handling, site cleanliness, and waste diversion.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Offload and move construction materials around the site.
- Load and deliver trade materials into buildings as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized construction site.
- Remove construction waste, scrap, rubble, and debris from buildings and work areas.
- Sort and divert construction materials for recycling and responsible disposal.
- Coordinate garbage and recycling bin exchanges, including scheduling dumps and returns.
- Use hand tools and equipment such as rakes, shovels, brooms, and wheelbarrows as required.
- Follow all applicable safety regulations, procedures, and site requirements.
- Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by the Foreman or Site Superintendent.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- 1+ year experience operating rough terrain telehandler
- 1+ year multi-family construction experience
- General understanding of construction procedures, equipment, and OHS guidelines
- Ability to perform physically demanding work and remain active throughout the workday
- Strong commitment to safety and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
- Carpentry experience considered a strong asset
- Communicate openly and honestly, with a positive attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and adapting to changing priorities
- Team player who is self-motivated, reliable, and efficient
- Willingness to learn and take direction from the site leadership team
Compensation Package:
Hourly Salary: $32.69 per hour
Annual Bonus: Highstreet pays an annual bonus based on company performance. A typical bonus for an Equipment Operator is approximately 14% of annual salary. Determined annually, the bonus could be higher or lower, depending on performance results.
Investment Opportunity: Highstreet encourages all employees to share in our success by offering the opportunity to invest in the projects we build and operate. To encourage employee investment, Highstreet matches employee investment at 50%, up to 20% of annual salary (i.e. for every $1 invested by the employee, Highstreet invests $0.50 on the employee's behalf). The investments are TFSA and RRSP eligible.
Additional requirements:
- Satisfactory criminal and credit check.
- Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle required.
- Employees are required to have a smartphone and be willing to download certain apps for timekeeping etc.
