Security Guard - Midland

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

• Security Guard at the public library
  
• Ensuring access control is followed and client property is secured, escorting visitors as needed
• Escorting trespassers off property (high homeless population in and around building, must be comfortable with these sorts of interactions)
• Washroom checks, paraphernalia checks
• Maintaining positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
• Comfortable interacting with unhoused people
• Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Responding to alarms and utilization of alarm panels
• Completing daily logs and written reports as necessary
• Ability to walk/stand for a longer period of time, consistently patrolling 4 floors of library and outside
  
• Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma
• *MUST* Ontario Security Guard License
• *MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• *MUST* Vulnerable Sector Check
• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to complete frequent patrols
• Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
• Able to multi-task and work well with little to no supervision
• Excellent customer service and reception skills

• Job type: Full-Time
• Rate of Pay: $20.35 per hour
• Working Hours: Monday 1000 to 1800 hrs; Tuesday to Thursday 1000 to 2000 hrs
  
• Location: 320 King Street, Midland, Ontario

As a front-line representative of our company and client's site you must be highly reliable, work well under pressure, able to work with minimal supervision, have the ability to multitask and be a professional who takes pride in your dress, deportment and performance at all times.
