Full-time
Entry Level

Supreme Steel is seeking a talented and motivated Business Analyst to join our corporate team in a fulltime, 12-month term position, with the potential of becoming a permanent fulltime position. The Business Analyst will identify and evaluate opportunities to improve business performance through better processes, more disciplined spending, improved use of data, and practical technology solutions. Working across corporate, project, fabrication, and field functions, the role analyzes current-state processes and costs, quantifies problems and opportunities, develops decision-ready recommendations, and helps implement approved changes. Solutions may include artificial intelligence and automation, traditional software, reporting improvements, vendor or licensing changes, and non-technology process redesign.

The Business Analyst position serves as a bridge among business users, leadership, and technology providers. The role coordinates the corporate technology and process-improvement roadmap, contributes to corporate communications about priorities and progress, and leads recurring development and service check-ins with the third-party IT provider.

What You'll Do

Business Process, Spend & Efficiency Analysis

  • Analyze end-to-end business, administrative, and technology-enabled processes to identify waste, rework, bottlenecks, unnecessary handoffs, inconsistent practices, control gaps, and opportunities for standardization or simplification.
  • Review operating and technology spending in partnership with Finance and process owners, including vendor invoices, recurring services, software licensing, utilization, support, development effort, storage or infrastructure, and other material cost drivers.
  • Use data, observation, interviews, workshops, process mapping, and root-cause analysis to quantify cost, manual effort, cycle time, error rates, service impacts, and business risk.
  • Maintain a visible opportunity register that records the problem, business owner, estimated value, effort, dependencies, risks, priority, and status.

Recommendations, Business Cases & Benefits

  • Develop decision-ready recommendations and options that clearly describe the current state, root cause, proposed solution, cost, benefit, risk, resource requirements, implementation approach, and expected return.
  • Assess whether an opportunity is best addressed through a process change, better use or configuration of an existing system, a purchased solution, or custom development.
  • Support leaders and process owners in prioritizing opportunities based on strategic alignment, measurable value, urgency, feasibility, risk, and organizational capacity.
  • Present findings in clear business language, document decisions and actions, and track realized benefits such as verified savings, cost avoidance, manual hours reduced, improved cycle time, quality, adoption, or risk reduction.

Solution Implementation & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead small improvement initiatives and support larger cross-functional projects from discovery through implementation and stabilization.
  • Gather and document requirements, define future-state processes, coordinate internal and external contributors, maintain action plans, facilitate user acceptance testing, support issue resolution, and assist with rollout.
  • Simplify and standardize processes before automating them, with attention to frontline reality, controls, usability, and business continuity.
  • Complete post-implementation reviews and recommend whether solutions should be adjusted, expanded, or discontinued.

Technology Roadmap & Governance

  • Coordinate and maintain a transparent corporate technology and process-improvement roadmap, including requests, priorities, business owners, timing, dependencies, estimated cost, status, and expected outcomes.
  • Support the development and application of clear build, configure, buy, or develop criteria and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Help document system ownership, system mandates, standards, decision rights, data responsibilities, and practical governance practices.
  • Regularly analyze software and technology utilization and spending, identify duplication or low-value cost, and recommend optimization opportunities.
  • Prepare concise roadmap updates and decision materials for executive and leadership review.

Third-Party IT Provider Coordination

  • Lead recurring development and service check-ins with the third-party IT provider, including agendas, priority review, action logs, decisions, risks, dependencies, delivery status, and issue escalation.
  • Maintain a clear development backlog and confirm that each initiative has an identified business owner, approved priority, defined scope, expected outcome, acceptance criteria, and visibility to estimated cost and effort.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements and coordinate among process owners, users, and the third-party IT provider throughout design, development, testing, release, and stabilization.
  • Review progress, commitments, invoices, effort, service usage, and delivery concerns; identify variances and recommend corrective action, reprioritization, alternative solutions, or escalation.
  • Support a productive vendor relationship while ensuring Supreme retains informed ownership of business requirements, priorities, and decisions.

AI, Automation & Software Enablement

  • Identify practical artificial intelligence, automation, reporting, and software opportunities across knowledge work and operations, prioritizing measurable business value rather than novelty.
  • Help evaluate tools, vendors, data readiness, security and privacy considerations, process fit, integration needs, support requirements, and total cost of ownership.
  • Coordinate pilots and proofs of value and support configuration, data preparation, testing, documentation, training, implementation, and transition to ongoing ownership.
  • Promote responsible artificial intelligence use, including human accountability, protection of company information, appropriate access, reliable outputs, and compliance with approved policies.
  • Measure adoption and realized benefits and recommend whether initiatives should be scaled, redesigned, or stopped.

Data, Reporting & Performance Measurement

  • Identify data-quality, data-definition, and reporting gaps that limit decision-making or process performance.
  • Work with process owners and technology providers to improve data collection, consistency, accessibility, and reporting across business systems.
  • Define baselines, measures, and dashboards needed to evaluate improvement initiatives and operational performance.
  • Reduce unnecessary manual reconciliation and spreadsheet dependence where practical by improving source data, system use, and reporting workflows.

Change Management, Adoption & Corporate Communications

  • Develop or support implementation, training, documentation, and adoption plans for approved process and technology changes.
  • Contribute to corporate communications regarding the technology roadmap, upcoming changes, release timing, business rationale, expected benefits, employee impacts, and actions required.
  • Prepare content for leadership updates, employee communications, and company-wide channels in coordination with the appropriate internal owners.
  • Facilitate regular sharing of artificial intelligence, automation, software, and process-improvement successes, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Gather user feedback, monitor adoption and usage, and recommend follow-up actions to improve effectiveness and user experience.

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • A degree or diploma in Business Administration, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Operations, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, operational analysis, project analysis, digital transformation, or a related role.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze workflows, spending, utilization, performance data, and root causes and convert findings into practical recommendations.
  • Experience developing business cases, cost-benefit analyses, return-on-investment assessments, and measures for tracking realized benefits.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather and document requirements, map processes, facilitate workshops, and define clear future-state workflows.
  • Experience helping implement process changes, enterprise software, reporting solutions, automation, or other cross-functional improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with external technology or software providers and coordinating business and technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, reporting, Microsoft 365, business systems, and common collaboration or project-tracking tools. Experience with Power BI, Power Platform, ERP systems, or similar tools is an asset.
  • Practical exposure to artificial intelligence and automation use cases, pilots, testing, adoption, and responsible use is an asset.
  • Strong written, verbal, facilitation, presentation, and change-management skills, including the ability to explain technical matters in clear business language and contribute to corporate communications.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, maintain organized action and decision records, and follow through in a dynamic, multi-site operating environment.
  • Experience in fabrication, construction, engineering, industrial services, project-based operations, or another asset- and field-intensive environment is an asset.
  • Relevant certifications such as CBAP, CCBA, PMI-PBA, Lean Six Sigma, project management, or equivalent are considered an asset rather than a requirement.
