STRIVE is a specialist recruitment firm offering proactive recruitment solutions in the areas of Accounting & Finance, Corporate Administration, Manufacturing Operations, and Technology. STRIVE supports various clients from small to medium-sized enterprises to Fortune 500 organizations for their permanent, contract, and temporary recruitment needs.
The Role
Our client is an established technology and manufacturing organization that develops innovative products and solutions for customers across a range of industries. As the business enters its next stage of growth, they are looking for a driven and entrepreneurial Sales Development Representative to join their team.
This role combines strategic account management with a strong focus on new business development. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and expanding key existing accounts while also identifying new markets, developing prospective customers, and driving adoption of the company's proprietary product portfolio.
A significant focus will be on new business development. This person will be comfortable building opportunities from the ground up, identifying target organizations, understanding customers' existing processes and challenges, and demonstrating the value of innovative and highly technical solutions.
This is an individual contributor position initially, with significant opportunity to take on greater sales leadership responsibilities as the company continues to grow.
Responsibilities
- Manage and grow established strategic and OEM customer relationships, including significant high-value accounts.
- Develop account growth strategies focused on identifying additional opportunities within existing customers.
- Drive new B2B sales opportunities for the company's proprietary technology and product portfolio.
- Identify prospective customers and markets through existing databases, market research, networking, and proactive outreach.
- Build strong relationships with key decision-makers and establish trust in innovative technical solutions.
- Conduct needs and situational analyses to understand customers' current products, processes, challenges, and future requirements.
- Develop compelling business cases demonstrating the technical and commercial value of proposed solutions.
- Manage complex sales cycles ranging from approximately six months to two years.
- Identify and secure key customers within emerging markets and product categories.
- Partner closely with engineering, operations, manufacturing, and marketing throughout the sales process.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's technology and communicate complex concepts effectively to customers.
- Maintain accurate sales pipelines, account plans, forecasts, and business development activity.
- Attend customer meetings and conduct local sales visits approximately 1–2 days per week.
- Initially focus on the North American market, with potential exposure to additional markets as the business grows.
- Contribute to the continued development of the organization's sales strategy and processes.
Requirements
- Proven experience in B2B sales, business development, account management, or entrepreneurship.
- Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and close new business opportunities.
- Strong hunter mentality combined with the relationship-building skills required to manage strategic accounts.
- Experience selling technical, complex, or innovative products is strongly preferred.
- Experience within technology, electronics, electrical products, automotive, industrial products, diagnostics, manufacturing, or related industries is an asset.
- Technical or engineering knowledge is considered an asset; however, relevant experience and commercial ability will be prioritized over formal education.
- Ability to understand technical products and translate their capabilities into clear commercial value.
- Experience growing existing customers through a land-and-expand approach.
- Comfortable engaging with senior decision-makers and technical stakeholders.
- Entrepreneurial and adaptable mindset with an interest in helping build and evolve a growing sales function.
- Hands-on, collaborative approach and willingness to contribute wherever needed.
- Strong communication, negotiation, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across sales, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Comfortable working primarily on-site and travelling locally for customer meetings.
- Valid driver's licence and ability to travel to customer sites as required.
