We are looking for a Steward to join our new restaurant opening this Fall 2026. The ideal candidate is ready to roll up their sleeves, lead with heart, and help us build something exceptional!

Union Hotel will be hosting a Job Fair at Hotel Victoria on August 19, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Your Role

The primary role of a kitchen Steward is to set the stage for the culinary team to deliver excellent customer service to our guests and customers. The primary duties include washing dishes, preparing meal ingredients, and maintaining the kitchen.

The Steward is primarily responsible for:

  • Operating commercial dishwashing equipment to clean and sanitize dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintaining a continuous supply of clean and sanitized dishes, utensils and equipment throughout service.
  • Keeping dishwashing, kitchen and back-of-house areas clean, organized and free of hazards.
  • Supporting the culinary team by cleaning and sanitizing work surfaces, equipment and floors.
  • Ensuring pots, pans and kitchen equipment are cleaned and promptly returned to their designated locations.
  • Assisting with receiving, moving and storing food, beverages and operating supplies as required.
  • Supporting cooks and other kitchen team members with general cleaning, organization and non-cooking tasks.
  • Sorting and disposing of garbage, recycling and food waste according to established procedures.
  • Maintaining adequate levels of clean towels, cleaning products and other kitchen operating supplies.
  • Following proper chemical handling, dilution and storage procedures.
  • Reporting damaged equipment, unsafe conditions, spills, shortages and maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Following all food safety, sanitation, workplace safety and health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Building professional, respectful and collaborative working relationships with kitchen and hotel team members.
  • Assisting with opening and closing cleaning duties as assigned.

What We are Looking for...

  • Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, banquet or commercial kitchen environment is an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen sanitation, food safety and workplace safety practices.
  • Ability to safely operate commercial dishwashing and kitchen cleaning and chemical equipment and follow established procedures.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull supplies, garbage, dish racks and equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a kitchen and stewarding team.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
