Overview

Shaw Hockey Performance is seeking a dedicated and passionate Strength & Conditioning Coach to join our high-performance training team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in athletic development, with a particular focus on hockey players aged 12+. This role involves delivering off-ice training sessions, teaching proper movement patterns, and fostering a competitive yet supportive environment that helps athletes maximize their performance.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Deliver small-group training sessions for hockey players in both off-season and in-season phases.
  • Implement training programs designed by Shaw Hockey Performance, while adapting them to the needs and abilities of each athlete.
  • Coach proper technique in strength, power, speed, and mobility exercises to maximize performance and reduce injury risk.
  • Provide on-the-spot feedback and cues to ensure athletes execute drills with intensity and precision.
  • Assist in performance testing and tracking athlete progress.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe training environment in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Build positive relationships with athletes and parents, fostering an environment of accountability, work ethic, and growth.
  • Stay current with industry best practices in hockey-specific strength and conditioning.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer, or athletic performance coach (preferably with hockey players).
  • Certification from a recognized organization (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, CSEP, NCCP) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills with the ability to engage youth athletes effectively.
  • Understanding of periodization, athletic development principles, and age-appropriate training methods is an asset.
  • Passion for sports performance and a commitment to athlete development.
  • CPR & First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

Position Details

  • Flexible schedule, but evenings and weekends are common.
  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience and qualifications.
