Position Introduction:

This is a full time, permanent position, and an opportunity to work with a fun, family orientated organization in a growing company division. We are looking for an experienced R&D Specialist to support the research, development, design, testing, and continuous improvement of new and existing Katch Kan products. This role will work closely with engineering, production, sales, and field teams to develop practical, innovative solutions that meet customer needs while ensuring product quality, performance, safety, and manufacturability.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with strong technical and product development skills who can take ideas from concept through testing and into production.

This job is a safety-sensitive position and therefore, you must pass a drug and alcohol test to be eligible for employment.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Lead the research, development, design, and continuous improvement of new and existing oil and gas safety and containment products.
  • Develop, test, and refine prototypes, materials, components, and manufacturing processes to ensure optimal product performance, quality, and durability.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, sales, and field teams to translate customer and operational needs into practical, innovative product solutions.
  • Evaluate and select materials, processes, and production techniques that support product performance, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability.
  • Support and coordinate production activities to ensure new and existing products are manufactured efficiently, safely, and to established quality standards.
  • Develop and improve production workflows, procedures, and SOPs to support consistency, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
  • Troubleshoot product and manufacturing issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions and improvements.
  • Ensure products and R&D activities comply with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, and company procedures.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support the development of products from initial concept through testing, production, and commercialization; perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in R&D, product development, and/or manufacturing, preferably in oilfield or industrial products.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, quality standards, and ISO quality systems.
  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, troubleshooting, and production scaling.
  • Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • CNC machining experience is an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment.
