Journeyman Carpenter

Effect Home Builders is looking for an experienced Journeyman Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate should have at least 6 years experience in residential construction, with some or all of that time working on custom homes. In depth knowledge of ICF foundations is a must. Advanced framing and experience with energy-efficient buildings is an asset.

This position is full-time, with the intention of a long-term commitment to stay with Effect.

The successful candidate will have the following competencies:

• Ability to complete accurate site takeoffs
  
• Ability to read and apply building codes
• Established skills in:
  • forming and rebar skills
  • concrete finishing
  • window and door installation
  • roofing
  • insulation/vapour barrier
  • drywall
  • interior and exterior finishes
  • ICF Foundations
• Lead and instruct apprentices to the standards of Effect Home Builders
• Ability to decipher, identify issues and apply engineered drawings and install components in accordance with them
• Organize and create game plans for junior carpenters to follow
• Able to complete all aspects of construction with little to no supervision
• Accountable for site safety
• Identify, Isolate, document and solve site problems and issues
• Ability to motivate junior carpenters to meet construction deadlines
• Ability to forecast and organize deliveries and returns when necessary
• Ability to advance into role of Site Foreman
• Participation in safety program
