Reporting to the Production Supervisors, the Press Helper's role is to assist the Press Operator with the running of the press in a way that maximizes productivity. The Helper will learn how to compare samples of printing to a master sample for quality assurance, monitor ink levels used at the press, fill ink buckets with the proper inks, splice plastic from an old roll onto the new roll for continuity of the print job and palletize finished rolls and stage them for shipment while adhering to safety, quality and workplace organization standards policies and procedures.
You will:
- Assist the Press Operator with the running of the press in a way that maximizes productivity.
- Receive palletized, unprinted rolls from the extrusion team.
- Insert 45lb cylinders into the plastic roll, rolling it onto chucks to be fastened and secured to the press.
- Splice plastic from an old roll onto the new roll for continuity of the print job.
- Palletize finished rolls and staging them for shipment.
- Install/uninstall rolls from the press.
- Monitor ink levels used at the press, filling ink buckets with the proper paint, approximately every 30 minutes.
- Change ink buckets every 30 minutes to 8 hours depending on the needs of the printing job and connecting hoses as required.
- Assist the Press Operator with comparing samples of printing and comparing it to a master sample for quality assurance.
- Other duties as assigned by a Supervisor.
What you have to offer:
- Experience in a flexographic or graphic litho press environment.
- You have a good understanding of manufacturing processes.
- You have mechanical aptitude.
- You have effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- You are able to work 8-hour rotating shifts, days, nights & afternoons.
- You're a team player and reliable.
- You can meet the bona fide physical requirements to carry out the duties of the role, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting and carrying up to 50lbs regularly.
- You can work with all levels of the organization and demonstrate a positive “can-do” attitude.
